Day 3 Istria Bikepacking 🇭🇷 Today was unfortunately filled with 3 flat tires for me. Two of them tiny cuts and the last one from a pothole that I saw too late going downhill. After this trip I'm definitely changing to tubeless. Any tips for a first timer? 🤞🏼

Besides that it was a lovely day again. We left the Parenzana railroad tracks and made our way to a little rougher stone tracks. Most of them not shown in this reel. That meant staying focused on the descent. The amount of climbing also increased today.
.
In the afternoon I found a well needed espresso before tackling the rest of today's route. Sour gummy bears brought me home.
.
We pitched our tent on a field and enjoyed today's dinner menu: pasta with tomatoe sauce and broccoli. 🥦
Also to all my bikrpacking friends, I am running out of ideas of new meals to try. Any tips? ✌🏼

Day 2 Istria: This bikepacking trip I decided to afford myself a little more pack weight to bring a setup to make freshly ground and brewed coffee in the morning. Hario hand grinder & Aeropress combination. Coffee beans from a café near my place. Will have to tweak the brew time a little bit tomorrow but it was already a major upgrade to the instant coffee I usually had on the last trips.
.
Also had the first flat tire in the morning but was able to fix it without any hickups. After breakfast we continued on the lovely Parenzana trail. So again smooth up and down on old railroad trails. Definitely got more technical today then yesterday and the amount of climbing increased.
.
For lunch we had self made Bruschetta as well as tomatoes and cucumber from a country where they actually taste like something and not just like whater haha.
.
Best moment of the day: jumping into the Mediterranean sea 😍
.
Today's dinner menu: way more chili sin carne than two people could handle and then some more. Chocolate for dessert.
.
Now laying on my sleeping mat and will see you tomorrow ✌🏼

Day 1 of bikepacking Istria, Croatia 🇭🇷
We arrived by Flixbus in the morning and started our day by going to a lovely café to have a flat white and a croissant. The coffee definitely felt good after a night with mediocre sleep on the bus. The croissant hit the spot too.
.
Then onto the route. With the Mediterranean sea in sight the first kilometers went by pretty fast. For lunch we usually go for bread rolls and different spreads like hummus and fresh veggies from the supermarket. Since the supermarkets were closed because of a holiday though we went for pizza instead. That turned out to be a really good idea too.
.
The afternoon was filled with some adventuring into the backcountry and perfect gravel roads or as some might call them "Gucci Gravel". That part was a former railway line so it had gradient slopes without any crazy peaks. After some pleasant climbs we had really chill descents. Even though we took it easy today it felt like we were absolutely soaring along there.
.
Final stop before looking for a wild camp spot was a cute little city center were we enjoyed a pint with a view. After that we rolled a few more kilometers and pitched our tent. For dinner we had an easy pasta with pesto to fuel for the next day.
.
We're excited to see what Croatia brings in the next few days. So far a great area to bikepack in✌🏼

Gravel @nodropcoffeerides episode 1 🚴🏻‍♂️
.
This is where the fun started. I joined this wonderful group of people for the first time about a month ago for a very nice end-of-summer ride that had it all: gravel paths, dirty skin, flowy single trails, good company and a dip into the lake 🌊
.
I am starting to enjoy using my gravel bike for short and fun gravel days after the more extended bikepacking adventures back from Prague and across Switzerland.
.
What I love about these social rides is that they always surprise me about how many hidden adventure trails you can find not too far from my door in Berlin if you know the right routes 🧭
.

Let's get SteppenLOST. 🐺🧨
This weekend I took part in an amazing gravel alley cat organized by @steppenwolf030.
No digital navigation allowed. Map and compass only.

As many as possible of 40 hidden checkpoints and special surprises were to be found in 4 hours time. @marei_sh who I've met through @nodropcoffeerides was in the leadout chasing gravel with me.
I feel like I'm diving headfirst into this absolutely wonderful community of people that are #gravelcommunity. Thanks to all of you.

In the end we managed to find some of the checkpoints, collected beautiful sunset views as planned by our team name "here for the views" and made it out of grunewald alive 😮‍💨
Afterwards there was a social ride back to the other side of town. All in all around 90km and pure fun. Can't wait for the next episode. Also catch me at the finish line of BAB Steppenwolf. Couldn't snag a starting spot this year but hopefully next time 🤞🏼 taken in Grunewald by @shutterhero

My third BJJ Globetrotters Summer Camp is in the books. 🥋☀️
A whole week filled with more Jiu Jitsu classes than you could need, fun rounds, meeting lots of new people and seeing friends from the last camps.
