A lot has been said about the downturn in the grass roots domestic race scene but the Lancashire Road Club Summer Handicap at the weekend felt like a step in the right direction - a traditional club putting on an event from a village hall supported by volunteers who simply wanted to something good for the sport. The atmosphere around the race was great and good handicapping meant that the scratch group had its work cut out and we only found the front on the last lap. It’s no surprise the event was oversubscribed - build the experience and the riders will be there. First road race in a long while but nice to still be able to sniff out a win. Enjoyed racing out in Mallorca last weekend even if the Spanish weather abandoned us for a while.. 2nd in CHALLENGE DE PRIMAVERA - SES SALINES after being in various groups most of the race and just avoiding being caught on the line and 10th in TROFEU MIQUEL MAS. Even ended up on top of the wrong podium 😅 (was called up as winner of the L2 race which I thought was a masters podium) Great races promoted by @unionciclistablahi 👌 📸 @koldo_zuazaga @guidacycling by @si_w_

Made up to win the Clayton Spring Classic for a second time 11 years to the day from the first, 45 mins solo chasing @jak3.13 was really grim but came good in the end. Really nice to see the local cycling community pulling together to make this happen, It’s no secret the domestic race scene isn’t in the best place at the moment but the atmosphere at this classic North West season opener highlighted that if we keep plugging away we will end up somewhere good. Popped down to the Tameside Crits promoted by @alistairrutherford who’s doing a great job, cheap racing, entry on the line (with card payment option!) and good banter - everything midweek should be. Didn’t win but had fun trying- get involved👌 📸 Photo de Sport by @si_w_

2016 I was pretty bored of getting a kicking in every prem that went uphill and decided I was going to call it a day, set myself the aim of finishing the year doing a 17 min 10 and having a crack at the World Masters Team Pursuit. I managed to achieve both but the fun and enjoyment of shared project refreshed my outlook at led to me joining @neprocycling and having some of the most enjoyable and successful years in the sport. Pleasure to get stuck back in with the lads and reclaim the jumpers! Nice to get my track mojo back winning both the IP and Scratch. Final highlight was @bexrimmington getting stuck in and winning a handful of medals after a rough time lately health wise 👌 Thanks as ever to @huubdesign & @wattshop for their continued support 🥰 📸 @veloukwebsite taken in National Cycling Centre by @si_w_

Always liked the idea of having a crack at the @ucigranfondoworldseries aka the amateur TT worlds. No excuse with the @uci_cyclingworlds in Scotland. With age titles from 19+ it was great to take the 40-44 title as well as posting the fastest time overall on the day. Fantastic support as ever from @huubdesign and @wattshop creating some fast patriotic kit to race in🔥Now to stop @elderberryjade from trying to eat the cow… #didntvotebrexit #notdeadyet taken in UCI Gran Fondo World Series by @si_w_

Mint week out in Mallorca topped off with the Challenge Primavera Trofeu Ses Salines - First time pinning a number on since getting Covid mid August so really happy to win 👌Somehow also took my first KOM jersey in 30 years of racing 😅Looking forward to getting back to @bexrimmington and the animals #notdeadyet taken in Ses Salines by @si_w_
