“With a seemingly genetic predisposition to fight for those who can’t fight for themselves, Sadiqah makes an action-packed debut worthy of classic martial arts cinema. The Search for Sadiqah recalls those kung fu costume dramas full of wayward students, wizened masters, and hidden secrets with a refreshingly Black American twist. This is not just a pastiche of genre, but an expert blend of Eastern motifs and American folklore, and I can’t wait to read more!” —Jamie Noguchi, artist of School for Extraterrestrial Girls

“In this graphic novel extravaganza, we are treated to history, fantasy, action, and a sort of Afrofuturist eye view of what has been imbued in Africanist folklore such as Virginia Hamilton’s The People Could Fly.” —Tony Medina, author of I Am Alfonso Jones
