From tagging along in Seattle… to the first-ever U17 Boys National Team.
Meet Sid Saikanth @sid_saikanth.

What started as Sid joining his dad’s rec volleyball games has turned into one of the most impressive youth volleyball journeys in the country.

Sid began formal training in 2021 with Blue Royals Volleyball Academy, building fundamentals and falling in love with the game. He then moved to the Space Needle Volleyball Foundation, where he sharpened his skills and grew into a true leader.

In 2023, his family moved to Austin — and Sid stepped into Austin Junior Volleyball (AJV), one of the top programs in the nation. He earned the captain role in his U14 season and has continued to captain his U14, U15, and now U16 teams.

And then came the breakthrough…

Sid was selected for USA Volleyball’s National Team Development Program — identifying the top ~35 players across the entire country. After completing two NTDP Training Series, he has now been chosen to represent the first-ever U17 Boys National Team in US history.

With the support of his family, coaches, and teammates, Sid continues to raise the bar — chasing excellence, growth, and a pathway that inspires every young brown athlete watching.

First-ever match ✅
FIRST-EVER SWEEP! ✅

In its first-ever match, the U.S. Boys U17 National Team earned a victory over Mexico 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-13) at the 2025 NORCECA U17 Continental Championship in Nicaragua! 🇺🇸
