Filmmaker and editor Sid Shekar has spent over a decade shaping stories in Malaysia’s film and media industry, moving between television, advertising, and documentaries that reveal the unseen corners of society.
Influenced by Kurosawa and Miyazaki, Sid’s storytelling reflects both the beauty of simplicity and the weight of lived experience. From sleepless nights in TV production to moments of awe filming wild elephants, he has learned that creative work demands patience, balance, and a deep respect for the people you work with. Now, as he prepares to bring his craft to Japan, he carries with him not only a love for Japanese cinema but also the quiet lessons of resilience and responsibility earned across twelve years behind the screen.

映画監督・編集者のSid Shekarは、マレーシアの映像業界で十年以上にわたり活動を続けてきました。テレビや広告から、社会の見えにくい部分を切り取るドキュメンタリーまで、多様な現場で物語を紡いできました。

黒澤明や宮崎駿に影響を受けた彼の物語には、「シンプルさの美」と「生きてきた時間の重み」の両方が映し出されています。徹夜続きのテレビ制作から、野生のゾウを撮影した感動の瞬間まで、経験の中で学んだのは、創作には忍耐やバランス、そして共に働く人への敬意が欠かせないということ。これから日本での挑戦を見据える彼の中には、日本映画への憧れとともに、十二年の現場で培った静かな強さと責任感が息づいています。

Currently experimenting with some screen tests for a horror idea I am working on. I’m trying to explore cosmic or analog horror. I think the render came out decently for a screen test All of this was done in after effects.

Almost 8 months since we filmed Reflections of Tokyo.

Looking back, what I treasure most isn’t just the film itself, but the memories we made along the way — the long days, the quiet moments, the conversations, the laughter, and everyone who gave a little piece of themselves to this project.

I’m incredibly grateful to everyone who helped bring this film to life.

Some memories stay with you a little longer than others. This is one of them.

『東京の反映』を撮影してから、もうすぐ8ヶ月。

振り返ってみると、僕が大切に思うのは、映画そのものだけじゃなくて、その道のりで生まれた思い出たちです。

長い撮影の日々、静かな時間、交わした言葉、笑い声。そして、この作品のために、それぞれの想いを少しずつ分けてくれたみんな。

この映画を一緒につくってくれたすべての人に、心から感謝しています。

時間が経っても、少し長く心に残り続ける思い出があります。
