Carina, Maya, And Miranda!!

These girls are seriously so awesome. Each of them are so hard working and they have achieved so many great things at Adrian College. It’s bittersweet to say goodbye to them, as the’ve been team mates, class mates, and most importantly friends of mine, but I know they are on their ways to do great things. Cheers and congrats! by @sidecamkenny

Miranda and Jack!!

These two are so funny together. Miranda loves taking photos, but Jack looked like he would much rather watch from the sidelines. I laughed so hard when Miranda bossed Jack around to get him to pose- and I laughed even harder when Jack finally loosened up because they started play fighting. These two are so light hearted and I felt like I was able to capture that energy and portray some cute moments between them! by @sidecamkenny

Maya and Sam!!

These made me swoon from all the love I see in these photos. Maya and Sam have been together since freshman year of college and it’s been so special to see their relationship blossom over the years. They’re the sweetest people you’ll ever meet, Maya is a professional mogger, and Sam is a super funny guy. Their love is so precious and beautiful and that’s what makes these photos so special. My favorite part of photography is capturing emotion, and this photoshoot brought me so much joy- in both the shooting process and editing process. I could not stop saying “aww” when I was sorting through these. by @sidecamkenny

Mackenzi🫶🫶

My beautiful bestie and muse! I wanted to experiment with long exposures and with getting more artsy shots. I’m hoping that this practice can translate to my sports photography as well! This was so fun and whimsical, and I can’t wait to experiment more!! by @sidecamkenny

Intercollegiate Figure Skating

Day 3 pt2. I have two words: MIDWESTERN CHAMPS! Congrats to everyone this weekend- there were beautiful skates from every team there and amazing sportsmanship. I’m so proud of this team and I’m so grateful to be surrounded by supportive team mates. Go Bulldogs!

Intercollegiate Figure Skating!!

Day 3 pt 1. So much grit today! Day 3 is always the most exhausting, but we locked in and put out really strong skates today. That’s something to be super proud of! This team typically gets a little rowdy towards the end, but I wouldn’t have it any other way. We make so many memories in one weekend and it’s truly so special. I also loved being able to be the team photographer this weekend. It’s such a unique experience to be able to be on the boards while your team mates compete because you’re able to feel their energy and see the joy from up close. I think I got the chills every time, it was so cool. On another note, one of my favorite photography challenges from this weekend was just using my nifty fifty lens. Having a prime lens while everyone else had a zoom lens made me nervous, and I was worried that I wouldn’t get any good shots. But, I learned that I should never doubt this lens- it has never failed me and it showed me that zoomed out shots can be just as cool as close ups (and being able to have such a low aperture is so goated).

Intercollegiate Figure Skating!!

Day 2 pt2!! We had some free dance debuts! These were so fun to watch, free dance is about character, artistry, and edge work. This is one of my personal favorite events to watch because there are always really cool body movements and in general you see more joy in the skater. This is mainly because they don’t have to worry about jumping, haha. These debuts were extra special because each one got a podium finish, to which I have to say- congrats ladies you are so amazing!! This was an amazing way to end day two.

Intercollegiate Figure Skating!!

My team mates!! It is so awesome to be able to see all of the hard work that goes into these programs, and then to finally see these girls perform. I am so so so proud of all of my team mates, you guys make this look so easy and fun even though we all know this sport is incredibly difficult. I loved seeing all of the joy out there today. We’re starting this competition out so strong!!

Acro and Tumbling!!

Can I just say, these women are so freaking cool! This is such an amazing sport to watch, and I’m so glad I got the opportunity to capture it! The skill that it takes to do these tricks is insane, and it’s safe to say that I have a lot of admiration and respect for this team.

The lighting in Merillat was keeping me on my toes, though. My camera is a DSLR, meaning that it does not perform the best in low/poor lighting. Acro also requires different settings compared to hockey, and I was absolutely not anticipating that. So, these may not be my best photos- however, that gives me a great excuse to come to more acro events and try again!

Men’s ACHA D1 Hockey!!

I’m a little late to posting these because life got busy, but they’re here now! This game had so many funny moments that I was able to capture. I genuinely laughed while editing some of these, from the faces to the stances, there were many gems.
