Snuck the Two Four Nine out before the sky changed its mind again.

You know the drill. Blue skies for five minutes, dramatic clouds rolling in like they have a personal issue with my plans. So obviously, I left immediately.

Quick ride turned into a slightly less quick ride. As it does. Just enough miles to feel like a win before the weather comes back to remind me who is in charge.

Still a little brown. But green is peeking through and the air is warmer, the roads are calling, and I am taking every window I get.

Made it home just in time to get “severe thunderstorm warning, “tornado watch” and “flood watch” notifications. I guess the storm can have the rest of the day. I got mine.⚡️

🏍️🏁🐻

💭daydreaming💭

Funny story👇🏻
I bought this hack from an old boy a few towns over. Much to my benefit, he wasn’t the best salesman. He was bewildered at the fact that I wanted to buy this machine. He told me about how he crashed into bushes not once, but twice after he bought it. 😅 He insisted something was wrong with it and went on and on about how dangerous it was and that a woman, especially, shouldn’t be driving it.

Then he told me about the fella who looked at it before me, and how he came back with white knuckles after a test drive and said it wasn’t fit for the road.

After looking it over closely, I still wanted it. He thought I was crazy, and dropped the price lower than the bargaining price I had in my head because he said it wasn’t road worthy and shouldn’t be driven. Despite his words of warning I still purchased it.

Was something wrong with it? Actually, yes. Whoever added the sidecar to RE Classic had the geometry wrong. The side car rattled like a son of gun, especially at slower speeds. They also neglected to install a steering dampener. Now, steering dampeners aren’t a necessity, but they sure make a difference on a rig like this.

Now that it’s all sorted, everything rides like a hack should - nothing like a motorcycle w/o sidecar and still a tad sketchy on some left-hand curves. Maybe next summer I’ll master the art of flying the chair! 😉 For now I’ll be daydreaming my way through winter.

This is peak Wisconsin summer if you ask me. A quiet country road. An old red barn. Blue skies overhead. And the Two Four Nine soaking up every bit of it.

These ended up being the last photos I took before life decided to throw in a plot twist. A surprise hospital stay later, I’m back home, trading motorcycle boots for a walker while I heal. Safe to say the riding season is on pause for now. Not exactly the accessory I was planning to add to the collection this year.

The good news is the roads aren’t going anywhere. Neither are the barns. And the Two Four Nine will be patiently waiting in the garage until I’m able to throw a leg over the seat again.

Until then, I’ll be living vicariously through old ride photos and everyone else’s adventures. So if you’re heading out for a ride, take the scenic route for me. And if you happen to pass an old red barn, you already know I’d have stopped for a picture. ⚡️ taken in Wisconsin by @sidecar.shenanigans

A motorcycle ride with a food destination is always a solid plan. Last night’s mission: make a stop at Fort 88 Smokehouse.

The food? Fantastic.

The portions? Let’s just say you should arrive with a very empty stomach and a serious commitment to leftovers. They are not shy with the serving sizes around here.

The Two Four Nine got a nice parking spot, I got a very full belly, and I may have had to reconsider whether I was still capable of operating a motorcycle afterward. 😆

Highly recommend adding this one to the ride-and-eat list. ⚡️

Philosophers have been trying to answer this question for centuries. Meanwhile, I seem to have narrowed it down to a motorcycle, a full tank, and roads with more cows than traffic.

Not saying I’ve solved it. Just saying the evidence is compelling.⚡️🏁 taken in Wisconsin by @sidecar.shenanigans

Some rides are about the destination. Others are about finding yourself on a quiet country road with nothing but fields, Queen Anne’s lace, blue skies, and clouds that look like they were placed there on purpose.

This is the kind of scenery that makes the long way around the obvious choice. No traffic. No hurry.

Just a motorcycle, a beautiful Wisconsin day, and a reminder that sometimes the best views are the ones you accidentally find along the way. ⚡️ taken in Wisconsin by @sidecar.shenanigans

When I bought Watson, his previous owner was convinced I was making a mistake. He told me, “That thing isn’t fit to be driven, especially not by a woman.”

To be fair, he had his reasons. He’d put it into the bushes more than once and had a few other “near misses.” That’s why Watson was sitting forgotten in the back of his garage collecting dust.

The guy who looked at it before me came back with white knuckles and said anyone would have to be crazy to buy that thing. So naturally… I bought it. 😂

Watson isn’t fast. Not even close. Point the sidecar uphill, twist the throttle wide open, and he’ll kindly remind you that patience is a virtue.

But that’s the magic. You don’t ride Watson while thinking about where you need to be next. You ride him by paying attention. By feeling the road. By noticing the little things you’d miss if you were flying past them. He’s not a motorcycle for chasing speed. He’s a motorcycle for chasing moments.

What’s the one motorcycle that beat the odds and became your favorite riding partner?⚡️

One of my favorite things about Wisconsin summers? Random roadside pops of color.

A patch of bright orange ditch lilies, a quiet stretch of road, and the Two Four Nine looking like it coordinated its outfit with the scenery.

No destination required. Just a good road, a little sunshine, and the kind of view that makes you pull over because apparently every pretty flower patch is now a mandatory photo stop.

Wisconsin, you really do show off this time of year. ⚡️ taken in Wisconsin by @sidecar.shenanigans

I’m not addicted to motorcycles. I just happen to know a lot of people who are.

So naturally, I ride in solidarity with them. It’s important to support your friends and their interests.

Honestly, I’m just trying to be encouraging. I don’t make the rules.⚡️ by @sidecar.shenanigans

Some places have a way of making you slow down without even trying. Prince’s Point was one of those places.

The water was perfectly still, the bare trees stretched out in reflection, and the last bit of daylight settled over everything like it wasn’t in any hurry to leave. It seemed like the right place to park the Two Four Nine alongside the old Classic 500 for a few quiet minutes.

No crowds. No traffic. Just two Royal Enfields, a peaceful Wisconsin evening, and a reminder that not every ride has to be exciting to be memorable.

Sometimes the best part is simply finding a place that makes you want to stay a little longer. ⚡️ taken in Prince's Point by @sidecar.shenanigans

Somewhere between the backroads and the blue skies the day got away from me.

Funny how that happens. One minute you’re heading out for a quick ride, and the next thing you know you’ve spent the entire day chasing country roads, admiring clouds, and conducting highly important investigations into where that gravel road leads.⚡️ taken in Wisconsin by @sidecar.shenanigans
