*Yesterday I visited the Akwete Cloth Weaving Skill Acquisition Initiative - ACWeSAI*
It was inspiring to see children as young as 6 years old being taught how to weave Akwete Cloth, and also how to turn the finished cloth into bags, shoes, and other accessories.

*Why this matters:*
1. *Preserving Our Heritage*: Teaching our young girls ensures that Akwete weaving does not go extinct. The craft stays alive from one generation to the next.
2. *Skill & Empowerment*: Early skills training gives our girls financial independence and dignity. They grow up with a trade, not just a certificate.
3. *Engaging Young Minds*: When we engage children early, we disengage them from anti social behaviors, build creativity, discipline, and pride in our children. They also learn how to add value and create jobs through fashion and accessories.
4. *Securing the Future*: A craft that is taught to the youth today becomes an industry that employs thousands tomorrow.

Let’s support efforts that put skills in the hands of our children. If we don’t teach them now, we risk losing Akwete Cloth forever.
