The Brad Pitt Toyota Corolla Altis campaign ran from 2001 to 2002 across Asian markets including Thailand, Taiwan, Malaysia, and the Philippines. It coincided with the launch of the ninth-generation Corolla Altis (E120), a more premium version of Toyota’s long-running sedan.

Titled “Break Into Style,” the campaign featured a mix of television and print ads showing Pitt in sleek, modern settings of concrete, glass, and metallic tones. The visuals reflected the early-2000s aesthetic of urban minimalism, presenting the Corolla as a symbol of cinematic cool.

The AC Schnitzer ACS3 A.R.T.

Using advanced Racing Technology, coming straight from AC Schnitzer’s in-house team. The car’s internals featured a custom S50 B32-based engine producing 370 hp with a short Shift 5-speed manual gearbox, a 45% locking diff & a 0-60 mph in 4.5s / top speed of 180 MPH.

The externals also had significant upgrades, featuring an aero kit for max downforce + lightweight aggressive front apron, vented fenders, side skirts, roof spoiler, diffuser & adjustable rear wing. Not to even mention all the lightweight carbon interior bits & other upgrades.

They really don’t make em like they used to.

Nigo - A lifelong love for cars.

In the early 2000s, Nigo wasn’t just building BAPE. He was quietly assembling a garage that captured the era, & Dub Magazine was there documenting it in real time.

Nigo’s influence runs deeper than most realize. Born Tomoaki Nagao in 1970, he grew up in Tokyo before streetwear had a backbone. Instead of entering the traditional fashion system following the current designers of the time, he took his own lane — Pulling from Japanese pop culture, American hip-hop, and bold graphic references / language.

That approach birthed ‘A Bathing Ape’ - It was a blueprint, pushing streetwear into global consciousness long before luxury took it seriously.

In the early 2000s, his partnership with Pharrell expanded that vision. billionaire boys club and ice cream merged Japanese precision with American music culture. The result shaped an entire generation — early Kanye, Cudi, Tyler, and more. Nigo knew the vision.

After Bape, the momentum didn’t stop. Later going on to create Human Made, work on cross-industry design, and eventually become Creative Director at Kenzo. All different projects, with the same mindset.

Nigo never separated worlds. fashion, music, collectibles, luxury, street culture - & none of this was random.

Cars to Nigo were lifestyle artifacts & Dub was watching. They didn’t just shoot cars, they documented a moment where fashion, music, and automotive culture spoke the same language. Nigo’s spaces weren’t staged. They were proof that streetwear had entered luxury, on its own terms.

The Yoshida Special 930 Turbo - Owned by the chairman of Midnight Club - Eichi Yoshida.

The car was given its nickname ‘blackbird’ from wangan midnight, being one of the fastest cars used in street racing in 1980s & 90s in Japan, remaining unbeaten on the bayshore route.

Official top speed of the Porsche was 308km/h, but it went 320+ on the highways in Japan and 340km/h in Germany. Midnight Club had many members from all over, including businessmen, doctors & truck drivers. All of which shared one same passion.

Enkei has been crafting wheels for over 70 years, supplying everything from street cars to Formula 1 machines.

One of their most famous and most divisive designs is the RPF1. Another well-known model, and my personal favorite, is the NT03. It was among the first wheels to feature a nitrogen quick-fill setup with a separate valve stem, which was pretty innovative at the time.

Enkei also produced AME wheels, offering a flashier, more style-focused option compared to their motorsport-oriented designs.

Slawntach’ by Artifaxing & Slawn

“Conceptualized by myself and Slawn, we wanted this car to be more than just a car. The goal was to turn it into a moving piece of art. It’s sitting on skateboard-inspired wheels, has a Slawn Bullet Stick Shifter, ARTIFAXING upholstered seats, and is covered in Slawn’s hand-painted artwork from front to back.”

The Slawntach will be shown this week in Miami during Art Basel.
