“The Lord is my shepherd, i shall not want” (Psalm 23:1). I have learned what it looks like to walk with the Good Shepherd this summer. He provides for all my needs and therefore i have nothing more i shall want. He makes me lie down in green pastures and leads me beside quiet waters. (Psalm 23:2) He desires to bring me rest and comfort and I have learned to trust the places the Lord leads me to. He restores my soul (Psalm 23:3). I could drink from the wells of this world and still be empty yet to hear just one word from my Shepherd i am filled. In the midst of wrestling with doubt, questioning, and the future, my Shepherd provided me with His truth, His comfort, and His love. My Shepherd desires to lead me in paths of righteousness in order to bring His name glory—who am i that i get to be part of a symphony praising Him? (Psalm 23:3). Even though i walk through the valleys my soul is comforted because i know my Shepherd’s rod and staff will comfort me (Psalm 23:4). My Shepherd does not leave me when I walk through the valley’s— rather he is the one who guides my steps. My cup overflows (Psalm 23:5). My Shepherd fills my cup—because He is able to do immeasurably more than I could ever think or ask for (Ephesians 3:20). Surely goodness and faithfulness will follow me all the days of my life (Psalm 23:6). He has been faithful to me from the Garden of Eden, to the cross, to being so intimately aquatinted with my life (Psalm 139). I can rest assured in this truth, my Shepherd is good and He is faithful—Selah. And my dwelling will be in the House of the Lord forever (Psalm 23:6). What a promise. What a friend. What a Father. Desperation. This has been the word written all over my life these past 2 semesters. It’s desperation to be near the Lord, to behold Him, to dwell with Him, to rest in Him. and wow what a cool season of life to walk through. Though life definitely didn’t go the way i expected it too, what a gift that it didn’t. Here are a few of the many blessing the Lord has given me this past semester:
I got to walk through this crazy season of life with the sweetest girl and best roommate EVER. Abby encourages me everyday and has shown me what it looks like to love and forgive like Jesus. Getting to see the Lord’s hand over our friendship has been one of the greatest testimonies of the Lord’s timing in our lives. she’s just really awesome.
I got to watch my dear friend and BIG get baptized…Breanna radiates kindness and joy wherever she goes and has been a steadfast friend in this crazy season of life. WHAT A GIFT.
I am part of a sorority full of women who make me feel so loved. These are women who have encouraged me and brought me some of my closet friends.
The blessing of music. Music about joy, pain, questioning, sorrow, adoration, but ultimately praise. That’s a lesson i’ve come to learn. Even though i don’t understand now, or may never understand, surely i will praise Him.
And finally the verse that I held closely to this year. When life gets heavy go to a silent place, and bow in prayer. God is just really cool and I love getting to serve Him. by @sidney_zinkus
