ɴʟ | 𝗗𝗶𝘁 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁
Zeven dagen lang bracht design de stad tot leven, met tentoonstellingen, installaties, projecten en ontmoetingen op verschillende plekken in Gent. Van 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗮 in het Gouvernement tot 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗟𝗢𝗛𝗢 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝘀 en 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, bedankt aan alle designers, partners, locaties en bezoekers die deze editie mee vorm hebben gegeven!
Hoewel Design Fest Gent in de stad afgelopen is, kan je nog steeds terecht in Design Museum Gent voor 𝗖𝗢𝗡𝗡𝗘𝗖𝗧 en 𝗖𝗢-𝗟𝗔𝗕.

ᴇɴ | 𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝘄𝗮𝘀 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻 𝗙𝗲𝘀𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝘁
For seven days, design brought the city to life through exhibitions, installations, projects and encounters across Ghent. From 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 & 𝗖𝗮𝘃𝗲𝗮 at Gouvernement to 𝗔 𝗣𝗹𝗮𝗰𝗲 𝗜𝗻 𝗠𝗼𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗖𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗼𝗻 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱, 𝗪𝗲 𝗔𝗿𝗲 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗡𝗲𝘅𝘁 𝗚𝗲𝗻𝗲𝗿𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, 𝗟𝗢𝗛𝗢 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗮𝗯𝘀 and 𝗪𝗶𝗻𝗱𝗼𝘄𝘀 𝗼𝗳 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻, a big thank you to all the designers, partners, venues and visitors who made this edition possible!

For 𝗖𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗔, 𝗕𝗥𝗨𝗧 𝗖𝗼𝗹𝗹𝗲𝗰𝘁𝗶𝘃𝗲 and 𝗗𝗲𝘀𝗶𝗴𝗻𝗨𝗻𝗗𝗶𝘀𝗰𝗶𝗽𝗹𝗶𝗻𝗲𝗱 transform the historic council chamber of Ghent’s former Government House into a non-conformist parliament — one that questions rigid categories and makes space for people, objects, machines, nature and everything in between.
Rather than focusing on the stage, CAVEA turns its attention to the stands. Here, seating becomes a place for encounter, dialogue and symbiosis, bringing together different perspectives through socially engaged design, research and debate.

𝗗𝗔𝗠𝗡°𝟵𝟯 𝗟𝗔𝗨𝗡𝗖𝗛 — 𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝗥𝗨𝗕: 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀

Last Saturday, we celebrated the 𝗹𝗮𝘂𝗻𝗰𝗵 of 𝗗𝗔𝗠𝗡°𝟵𝟯 at the Gouvernement in Ghent.
The evening brought together the DAMN° community, design lovers and creatives for an evening of conversations, encounters and new perspectives.

At the same time, the evening marked the vernissage for 𝗖𝗔𝗩𝗘𝗔 by @designundisciplined_dude and @brut_collective, alongside the exhibition 𝗨𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿 𝗖𝗼𝗻𝘀𝘁𝗿𝘂𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻, part of @designfestgent (@designmuseumgent).

PALZ × DESIGN FEST GENT <3

This Sunday we’re taking over BROEI for the final day of Design Fest Gent.

An afternoon made by friends, filled with photography, photobooks, poetry, live drawing, books, music and a little making together.

Zoë Baert @zbaert07 will be showing photography prints, photobooks & poetry, Nona Paloma @nona_paloma_laureyns will be live drawing on postcards, Michiel Telier @michielsdayoff brings his photography & photobooks, and Robert Janssens will have his books for sale published by Partizaan.

From 16:00–17:30 you can join Paint a Lamp - an open workshop, so come make something with us.

And from 18:00–19:00, Capital L @capital_l_official & Band will close the day with a live performance.

A small PALZ world inside Design Fest Gent. Come look around, make something, listen, hang out, meet people 🌟 stay for a while. :)

ɴʟ | Hoe leuk waren de springkastelen van @louloujoao en @shurleey?! Beide kunstenaars vertaalden hun eigen werk naar deze kleurrijke, speelse creaties.

Volgend weekend verhuizen de werken naar de Fluviussite. Daar kan je er van vrijdagnamiddag tot zondagavond nog in springen, spelen en alles van je laten afglijden. Tot dan!

ᴇɴ | How fun were the bouncy castles by @louloujoao and @shurleey?! Both artists translated their own work into these colourful, playful creations.

Next weekend, the works will move to the Fluvius site. There, you can still jump, play and let yourself go from Friday afternoon until Sunday evening. See you there!

What happens when we stop striving for seamlessness? 𝗗𝗔𝗠𝗡°𝟵𝟯 explores the tension between 𝗙𝗿𝗶𝗰𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗦𝗺𝗼𝗼𝘁𝗵𝗻𝗲𝘀𝘀, looking at how resistance, complexity and contrast can challenge established ways of thinking and open up new possibilities in design and architecture.
From shifting relationships between humans and technology to new approaches to materials, space, culture and creative practice, this issue looks at the productive forces that emerge when things don’t quite fit together.
Because sometimes, it’s the friction that moves things forward.
