Posting this because it is important to me that I recognize and use my privilege for good. In times like these I am unsure of how to present myself. My belief has been that I can make an impact by staying true to my values through everyday actions- because surely if everyone strove to consistently apply integrity, generosity, empathy, and gratitude to even the “insignificant” moments, we would have harmony, right? I know it’s not that simple, but I also think the influence of our casual passion and kindness creates positive ripple effects that go beyond what we see. Now, more direct action is called for.

Online, I share the things, people, and places that inspire me/I’m passionate about because I think there is great value in being able to motivate each other through relation. Lately I’ve been sharing about my study abroad experience in New Zealand. This experience is actively deepening my connection to our natural world and broadening my understanding of society, so I intend to keep sharing, but it feels shameful to only post about my travel with such a serious global situation deserving attention.

The American government is failing the vast majority of its people— exhausting its resources to destroy life rather than to support it.

I care about the world. I care about our collective safety and prosperity, and so action is necessary. Go beyond what is easy to demand what is right. by @sierraacoxx

I’m gonna share the highlights, like when I visited Auckland along my travels weeks ago, but know that they do not reflect the general reality of my experience here in NZ. Especially not over the last month. Truthfully, I’ve been struggling immensely for reasons more complex than I care to explain in a caption, and as a result I’m planning on coming home a few weeks early. I’ve been hesitant to post about the good moments while feeling so low, ashamed that I’m not actually living the amazing study abroad dream, but anyways here’s some pieces of Auckland I enjoyed, and soon I’ll post about Christchurch, and then all the other beautiful experiences that have shined despite the gloom!
