After a very intense year with lots downs and some beautiful ups, we were invited to stay at Vuurtoreneiland. One of the most special places ‘in’ Amsterdam. A beautiful and very interesting cultural heritage place/island in Amsterdam. Where the cook on open fire, and which can only be reached by boat.

30 days of drawings of space suits. Half way there! The “Bingo point” for my version of this challenge, if you will.

30 days ago I wrote the following in my Wear Tester notebook:

SIXTY SPACE SUIT STUDIES
For the duration of this 8 week Wear Testing phase I will draw a study of a space suit in this notebook every day. 8 weeks is a little under 60 days.
This notebook has 61 empty pages. The first page is used for this intro, the remaining pages are for drawings. Sixty pages, sixty space suit studies. Drawings will be loose parts, details or complete suits. Suits studied wil be real or fictional, intuitively selected by myself.
Studies will be drawn using photo reference, with a Palomino Blackwing regular pencil and may be coloured digitally. Output Before Input.

I’ve managed to keep a daily drawing practice for longer stretches of time in the past, but for a multitude of reasons didn’t do it this past year and I missed it. When @tomsachs announced Challenge 9 along with the below instructions, after just having mentioned that the theme for Phase 2 of the #Nikecraftweartester program was Endurance, I couldn’t help but slightly modify this challenge in an attempt to restart my daily drawing practice. This seemed like the perfect opportunity to get back into it, and to kick my day off with output.

INSTRUCTIONS:
1 - Wake up five minutes earlier than you’re used to.
2 - Use this extra time to create a new habit. OUTPUT: Draw, write, dance, touch clay, etc.
3 - Before you bring in new information, you must express yourself outwardly.
4 - Implement this into your daily routine. Continue this ritual, without fail, forever.

So, as soon as I wake up, I sit down for 5 minutes of meditation followed by drawing time until the rest of the house wakes up. The aim is to finish the pencil drawing in the morning. I then go in with digital colours later during the day, most days that is late at night, my last bit of output for that day.
And yes, most days I don’t touch my phone before doing my drawing.

Back in Amsterdam. Another intense but very successful Paris Fashion Week, going around the city with our Mobile Showroom. Big thank you to the whole @byborre team on the road with us, as well as the home crew and the extended family! Extra proud of my guys @borreakkersdijk @arnoudhaverlag for steering this crazy ship.
