Highlights from @nagafighter competition this past weekend. What a wonderful opportunity to put my skills to the test and calibrate. I decided to join the absolute bracket and was able to taste my first victory. This art form keeps sharpening my ability to detach from outcome use it as an additional data point, never a sign of my worth as a grappler.

Of course, the road is long and never walked alone. Huge shoutout to my entire team at @10patx. My corner @laurensears10p and @jacobnorton10p, it’s an honor to be coached by y’all consistently. @hanlly for the dope @dead.mall kit, helping me rock it out in style. Big thank you to my training partner @seekingsydneygruber, who despite not being there in person, supported me with reps upon reps before this match, as well as speaking light and positivity into my game constantly. All the coaches @10patx for teaching the 10P system. Finally @nogipriss and @curtis10p for creating a beautiful ecosystem of elite training and wonderful souls.

And just like that.

I used to think in black and white patterns. My younger self would cry doing math homework yet somehow I became an accountant in my early twenties. There was something safe about the predictability of profit and loss statements, solving problems, and the consistency of it all.
•
Fast forward to 2026 and I now think in color. Taking paint to canvas unlocks something in me that brings a new sense of safety to the conversation. Authentic expression. No rules needed. Big, messy, and bright.
•
This weekend was a dream. Displaying and selling my art while celebrating the amazing @shellsterbee! Thank you for the opportunity to co-exist and share this incredible space with musicians, comedians, and beautiful people.

This last week I competed in @thursdaynightjiujitsu. Much respect to my opponent @breezy10p who I’m grateful to have shared the mats with this night and going forward as teammates at @10patx. Iron sharpens iron, I’m lucky to be surrounded by some of the best here in Austin.

As the season of spring marks a natural new chapter, I continue to align myself with people, places and things that make me feel good. To quote a recent entry I made on my substack:
“You’re not fearless. You’re scared every day. The difference is accepting that fear as fact and doing it anyway. Grabbing it by the hand and jumping in at the count of three. Looking it dead center in the eyes and saying, “I hear you, but we have things to do…”. Most of the time fear complies, knowing that the human spirit is determined. And this one won’t be broken the way it was once before.“
•
It’s important to show the process. I continue to work towards detachment of outcome. I’m still figuring out what that looks like for me. I tell myself “Just take action” and let the rest fall into its place. 🔒✨🌿

Blue belt debut at IBJJF Houston. This time a year ago I was competing for the first time as a white belt. Today’s matches were tough. I lost by points significantly, got put in some uncomfortable positions and left with a long list of things to work on.
But this is the work. The gap between where I want to be and where I am is wide, and I’m up for the challenge. Loving myself through it anyway. Win or lose that Chipotle burrito still HIT.

About a year and a half ago I screamed the song “Unwritten” by Natasha Bedingfield at the top of my lungs as I cruised into my new home town - Austin, TX. Shortly after I also had to pull over because the 6 lane highways overwhelmed and overstimulated me.
•
It’s wild to think how much things can change! These days I find joy in the small things. It’s an honor to love the things I do (jiujitsu, coaching, training, competing, painting) and share them with people I love. And 6 lane highways ain’t nothing but a thing now!
•
No-gi Worlds camp 2026 has started and it feels so good to have something to be working towards. I’m making healthier choices and in consequence enjoying this healthier version of me, too.
•
It’s all about the people you share it with. A valuable lesson I’m learning along the way.

This canvas was originally thrown in a dumpster, to eventually end up in a landfill somewhere, given up on.

Shoutout my friend @rockin_rocio for saving it and thinking of me when she saw her neighbor throw it away!
Last night when my mind was racing (is it the full moon or what?) instead of tossing and turning all night I got up and painted this.
I don’t know if it’s done or not, yet. I hung it up, and it’ll tell me soon enough.
