Never forget. On Wednesday morning, the brothers of LA Beta climbed the steps of Tiger Stadium in honor of those who gave everything on September 11th. Organized by the @lsucorpsofcadets, LSU students and community members climbed 110 flights of stairs, the equivalent of the height of the World Trade Center. Every step was a tribute to those first responders’ courage, their sacrifice, and the respect they’ll always deserve. A special shoutout to one of our own, @justen_morales726, for providing PBA and PAPD attire from his father, who was a first responder on this day 25 years ago. #vdbl by @sigeplsu

At the start of last week, 54 young men officially joined the Sigma Phi Epsilon LA Beta chapter. These gentlemen and scholars are making a great step toward a bright future- both at LSU and in their lives to come. Also, we’d like to give a big shoutout to our VP of Recruitment @leebalart for such a great rush. Congratulations to the New Member Class of 2026! #vdbl taken in Sigma Phi Epsilon Fraternity by @sigeplsu

Here’s a quick flashback to this summer’s LA Beta Balanced Man Scholarship Banquet!

During this BMS Cycle, we had 321 applicants, 60 Finalists, and 5 Scholarship Recipients.

This June’s Banquet was a huge success- held in the LSU Union Royal Cotillion Ballroom, finalists and their families gathered to share a meal and be recognized for their outstanding performance in the 4 pillars of a Balanced Man: Gentleman, Scholar, Athlete, & Leader.

A big shoutout to our Scholarship Recipients for their hard work, and our guest & alumni speakers: Rev. Dr. Brian Mercer ‘99, Louisiana Appellate Judge Chris Hester ‘05, and LSU’s Vice Chancellor for Student Affairs Dr. Brandon H. Common. #vdbl by @sigeplsu

This past Sunday, we hosted our first annual Cajun One-Pot Cookoff Challenge! With the help of our alumni and participants, we raised over $6,000 in support of Hogs for the Cause!

There were 6 different fraternity teams competing, whose dishes were judged on appearance and taste. We had a diverse panel of sorority presidents/officers judging the dishes, and the final results were…

1st place - @sigmachilsu
2nd place - @sigeplsu
3rd place - @tkelsu

Huge thank you to the fraternity teams, sorority judges, alumni, and everyone that was able to come out to support such a great cause! We’re looking forward to hosting this event again next year! #vdbl by @sigeplsu

Last week, a few of our brothers attended the @lsugreeklife 2026 Greek Awards ceremony. We came home with more hardware than ever before. This year, we took home awards for the Best Chapter Program (Balanced Man Program), Chapter Advisor of the Year (John Allen ‘65), Academic Excellence, and the Max Gruver Award, created in memory of Max Gruver and given to a chapter that exemplifies true care and brotherhood for their members.

Several brothers also took home individual awards. The Founder’s Award (Harrison Verdigets ‘26), recognizing an individual who embodies the ideals of their organization’s founders, the Silent Leader Award (Brock Dupre ‘26), IFC Council Member of the Year (Patrick Haynes ‘26), and IFC New Member of the Year (Greyson Schwartz ‘29).

We are extremely proud of these brothers and their dedication to making our chapter and the LSU Greek Community a better place. #vdbl by @sigeplsu

This past Saturday, we held our annual LA Beta Family and Alumni Crawfish Boil. There were 350 people in attendance and we ate over 1700lbs of crawfish! We also held a Raffle/Auction with 15 unique prizes, an exciting fundraiser for our Mother’s Club.

This year, the boil was particularly special as we were able to welcome our Grand Chapter President, @davidraycalderon !! We were honored to give him his first ever crawfish eating experience and show him what the LA Beta chapter is all about.

Thank you to everybody for coming out! #vdbl by @sigeplsu

Over the weekend, our executive board and a few of our rising leaders attended the 2026 Carlson Leadership Academy in Atlanta, GA. This two-day program is designed for newly-elected chapter officers, providing the opportunity to build a network of fellow officers in our region and learn valuable leadership skills.

The LA Beta chapter received an award for Outstanding AVC, showcasing the successes that our Alumni Board has had with the chapter.

Special shoutout to our chapter advisor, John Allen ‘65, an Order of the Golden Heart recipient, who was recognized as a SigEp Icon this weekend. #vdbl taken in Atlanta, GA by @sigeplsu
