Another lesson on Words and their meaning to you.
........ ......... ......... ......... ......... ........ ....... ........ ......
A simple word can change the meaning and feel of an entire statement. Sometimes we speak without minding the words we say. Then wonder why the person receiving those words reacted differently. We term it, misunderstanding.
....
But really, if we check what we said, we'll see a simple word changed the whole statement. Isn't that powerful?.
....
A practical exercise for this lecture. Change the word "fingers" in the third stanza to "tongue" then read it again. I hope you got the message 😼

SEASON GREETINGS my people
I couldn't get any picture to post (because I'm really terrible at taking pictures 😫) said I should edit this as led by the Christmas spirit and post.

Another picture prompt for you 🙂.
......
One of the hardest(yet sweetest) things you can have with a child is a conversation. They ask the strangest of questions 😄. While those questions can seem unimportant to us as adults, they are of utmost importance to them. Listen to them, allow them ask you questions, allow them converse with you.
......
Got the poem from a photoshoot session of a pupil posing as the model for her school page, with her mother, the principal and the photographer(of course) present at the session. While sets of instructions were hurled at her, I gave a thought to what she might be thinking in her mind.
......
Growing up, we did have sets of instructions hurled at us from loved ones so we won't make the same mistakes they made, but then, many of the questions throbbing in my mind were never answered, had to find out myself. While I appreciated those instructions hurled at me, I think I would have made far better choices if the questions in my mind were also answered.
......
So, while you're instructing your little ones, don't forget to answer whatever silly question they might have in their minds, you don't know when the serious questions will pop up.
......
I once had a child ask me why the moon follows us every night 😂.... tell me, what silly question has a child ever asked you? 👇🏿

Another lecture on WORDS AND THEIR MEANINGS TO YOU.
...........
People tend to interpret your words more with the tone of your voice and attitude than with the dictionary meaning of the words themselves.
.....
For example, if I say "I miss you" with a normal tone and nonchalant attitude, you definitely won't believe I actually miss you.
......
But if I stared at you silently for couple of seconds, with my eyes wide opened as though I found a long lost treasure, and my voice slowly cracking as though I'm burdened with words heavier than I can bare... then I release the words, "I miss you" softly for just your ears to hear, you'll believe me then, won't you?? 😏 or have I just seen too many movies? 😂.

I once wrote a poem titled "Foolish men". Though the poem was directed in a way to tell the story of a young girl who had a soldier as her Dad, embedded in that piece was a subtle message to expose a certain happening in our society

Growing up as a young boy, it almost felt wrong to do the right things. Though not voiced, our peers placed certain expectations on us that contradicted what was said to be right. For example, we were taught to be polite, respectful, kind, but when I do those things I'm termed to be boring, or uncool (you cannot be one of the "big boys" by doing the things said to be right).
......
Getting to adulthood things changed. Being polite and respectful finally payed(for most than some), but I noticed this same pattern still, just that this time the requirements changed. Then it was to be a "big boy", now its to be a Man.
......
While there are many things said to be the right qualities of a Man, the unsaid expectations (the ones majority respond to in their acts as what they think a man should be) also contradicts the said qualities. It almost feels foolish to be the "said Man"
......
I don't know how it is in the Fatherhood circle (I'm not a father yet.. lool), but by observation I can say this; we know in words who a father should be, but the struggles accrued to fatherhood are never said, only experienced (in silence). And yes, Fathers, even though they give their heart to true fatherhood, are truly less appreciated. Watching that hurts, what intrigues me the most is how they don't complain about it (we do the complaining for them, I mean, today's Father's day was loud o, unlike the previous ones where its till evening it might even look like father's day 😂. We don complain for them well).
......
So today I want to use this medium to appreciate the Fathers, you have given your heart to true fatherhood, coursed through the struggles in silence. I appreciate you Sirs. Don't think yourself short of the title, ehn you, yes you, you've done very well, I truly appreciate you. Thank you 🤗💓 by @sight_poetry

Remember this. We all course the same earth, we all use the same roads. Our paths often cross

"The power of words, are in its meaning to you"
....
I remember having this statement chanting in my mind for weeks.
you see, words aren't just a combination of alphabets(that's barely what words are about), Or just a means of communication
....
They are carriers of images, events, experiences ND moments... one could even say "Life".
I mean, what is life without moments to fill it?
....
So, if no one has told you this today (even if someone has). Let me say it.. "I miss you" 🤗.
....

Before the pandemic, if anyone had asked me what my hobbies were, would have said writing (which I'm not even consistent at😅) and finding silly ways to trouble anyone around me (trust me, I'm not gentle 😏).
....
But when boredom made me hit rock bottom, I picked up a pencil ND tried sketching a picture I saw lying somewhere and I shocked myself, I had no idea I was capable of doing such.
....
Someone once asked a poet I look up to what made him start writing poems, ND he said boredom. I could swear God inscribed the art into his being because he's so good at it, and now he's telling us it's boredom, how dare you! 😑. Yet, it truly can be boredom 😂.
....
You see, you never know what potential hobby or talent you have in you until you try it. God won't send an email listing the talents ND interests he has placed in you (I wish he did though 🤔), you have to discover them by trying things out. Don't say "I can't" if you've never tried. Besides, is there really anything you can't do? (apart from the ones your anatomy forbids of course 😜), I leave the answer of that question to you.

I have another question though. Tell me, what interest, talent or hobby Did you discover about yourself during this pandemic? I'll go first: I discovered sketching ND more silly ways of troubling people 😆. by @sight_poetry

Learn a thing or two about my country 🇳🇬

Ègúnsí is a soup thickened with ground melon seeds. It is one of the most popular soup prepared by most tribes in Nigeria.
.....................
There's this interesting challenge involving my beloved Ègúnsí soup that has been happening on tiktok for a while now. And for some reason Fufu has blown in the abroad.
.....
Yes! E shock you abi! Fufu blow before pounded yam! Pounded yam o, the king of all swallows. This is proof that talent is not enough 😂
....
While I'm wowed by the sudden exposure tiktok has gifted our darling traditional dish. I'm also concerned by the way some of em are taking it (I legit saw someone chew it 🥺😭💔)
....
So, as a valid member of the association of swallow protection agency. It is of my utmost duty to make few corrections:

1.. You don't have to slap the Fufu before taking it. I don't know who lied to y'all, but the person must be a hoodlum 😑.

2.. Mix a considerable amount of soup with the morsel of Fufu before taking it. They are meant to go well together. I see some mixing a very little amount of soup with the swallow. Why? See the ocean of Ègúnsí they gave y'all na. It cannot finish, so dip it in nd pack it well. You'll love it better that way.

3. Don't chew it. Please, I'm begging you with the plea of my ancestors 😭💔. It's heartbreaking watching y'all chew Fufu. You swallow, not chew it.

4.. You might not like it. I've seen some videos where some spit it out 🤣. It's funny but understandable. Some of us here don't like it too, so if Fufu doesn't turn out as interesting as you thought it should have, try another dish.. like Pounded Yam(It must blow by force).

These are the few corrections I can make at this point, I leave the rest to my colleagues. I trust they're coming up with there's too.

For the mean time, let me ask my Nigerian Lovers of swallow to state below their favorite traditional dish. Come on people, let's provide em with other options ...

Agbo* is a traditionally made herbal tonic. They are usually very bitter.

As the year 2020 is about to take its final bow.
I have few questions.
...
1. Who exactly is Anon 😑? Did I offend you? Why have your hand not reached my side?

2. Jehovah overview, don't I have a view too? 😭

3. Is "Yes" the only word in the dictionary? Why are y'all now saying "yes" up and down? "No" feels lonely abeg 🌝.

4. Did my account number offend y'all? If no, why una never ask? 😑

5. In one word. Describe 2020.
