Twenty people. Seven days. One summit.

That’s 5,895 metres climbed to reach Uhuru Peak on Mount Kilimanjaro.

Five kilos of extra clothing, just to survive the nights. Blood oxygen checked morning and night. By day five, legs started wobbling and uncooperating as the cloud line revealed the summit.

This wasn’t the first expedition for some of them; for one climber, it was her eight adventure expedition with the SiGMA Foundation. By her own account, this was one of the best teams she’s ever done an expedition with.

Alea sponsored this year’s climb, but the climbers are the ones who deserve all the credit.

Because what they climbed for was worth every painful step: a full rebuild of Kaliro Kindergarten in Nawaikoke, Uganda, after storms destroyed the original school. Children who lost their classroom have it back, standing because twenty people got themselves up a mountain and refused to come back down until they got the job done.

Thank you to everyone who climbed, organised, and supported this year’s expedition.

65 regulators confirmed for SiGMA Rome.

Last month, @sigma.world introduced its new tagline, “Advancing Regulated Gaming”, replacing “The World’s Gaming Authority”

Now, the company is backing that promise with action by bringing regulators and industry stakeholders together in Rome.

As @sigma_eman previously said on @igamingrealtalk:

“We are bringing governments and the industry together because we strongly believe that the only way to go for the sector is to regulate and embrace responsible gaming.”

“Our mantra is regulate, regulate, regulate.”

That pretty much sums up what SiGMA stands for.

From 2-5 November, 65 regulators from across Africa, Europe and the Americas will gather at Fiera Roma to discuss licensing, illegal gambling, compliance and player protection.

With SiGMA expecting its biggest event yet, we’ll be there to capture the conversations, the people and the moments from the floor.

Nicolás Birchmeier, a Chilean journalist with El Mercurio (@elmercuriocl_), one of Chile’s leading newspapers, visited the SiGMA Group offices in Malta. He was welcomed by Robert Cutajar (@robert_cutajar), Head of International and Government Relations (Europe and Mediterranean) at SiGMA Group, who hosted an office tour.

Nicolás then met the SiGMA News team, headed by Shirley Pulis Xerxen (@shirleypulisxerxen), Head of News at SiGMA Group, and received a presentation of the SiGMA Vision 2030 book from Shirley Pulis Xerxen. The visit also included an interview for SiGMA News, which will be published on our platforms soon.
