I can’t believe it’s almost been a year since I was scraping early medieval soil at the Pictish fort of Burghead in Moray. (The Bull Fort in the books)
.
Endless thanks to Professor Gordon Noble and crew for the absolute bucket list day. @northernpicts
… and there were a LOT of buckets (of rock and soil, and I got a great arm workout transporting them to the sifter and the dump pile. Beats the gym any day).
.
It was incredible to watch all the different skills that need to come together to pull off an archaeological dig like this one. Gordon and his team are unearthing some incredible finds. Follow the Northern Picts account to stay in the know! taken in Burghead Fort by @signepike

Sometimes, if you believe, you get a nod from The Universe when you need it the most. Sometimes, it finds you even in your lunch order. 🥠

On deadline and accidentally wore slippers to school drop off again today. But I’ve never been one for wearing matching shoes, it turns out. So that’s comforting. by @signepike

This wee loch made such an impression on me. It makes an appearance in THE SHADOWED LAND as the place where Artur and Vanora pause on their journey from Dalriada to Mannau. Visited with my bestie @mtgentry (here she is!) on our way to Kilmartin Glen. by @signepike

Skotsko, staré tradice a postupné prolínání s tím, co dnes známe z artušovských legend, vytvořily zajímavý základ příběhu.
