When I came to Munich, in 1991, I visited an exhibition of Walter Schels, portrait photographs of newborn babies and people who just died. I was so impressed and touched
deeply by the essence of this work – and picked up the phone to call Walter Schels, asking if he needed an assistant. How life plays, he was just about to move to my hometown Hamburg
when I started my Munich life. It just took 35 year to finally meet in person and talk so
friendly in occasion of the book presentations at @akademiefuerfotografie. I was happy to come to know another more recent book about the end of life: „Noch mal leben vor dem Tod“
realised by Beate Lakotta and Walter Schels which I had to take home.

Die Ausstellung “Spieglein, Spieglein” ist die erste Kooperation zwischen der Alten Glasschleife und der @curtwillsstiftung . Ich freue mich sehr, dass ich zur Residency eingeladen wurde und zusammen mit den Künstler:innen @jakobgilg , @t0rnikeabuladze , @ayakaterajima, @olga_golos_ , @maierhoferjohanngeorg johann und @miriammferstl an diesem wundervollen Ort ausstellen durfte. Herzlicher Dank gilt der Kuratorin @miriammferstl und der @curtwillsstiftung für diese Möglichkeit.

Heute in einer Woche ist es soweit: unsere Ausstellung SPIEGLEIN SPIEGLEIN in der Alten Glasschleife im Murnthal bei @neunburgvormwald wird eröffnet. Dafür haben sich vor einem Jahr die Künstler:innen eine Woche von dem schönen Ort und dem zauberhaften Garten des Landschaftsarchitektes Jochen Martz an der Schwarzach inspirieren lassen.
Es ist die erste Kooperation zwischen der Alten Glasschleife und der @curtwillsstiftung und ich freue mich, dass ich sie kuratieren darf.
Seid herzlich eingeladen, vorbeizukommen. Um 17:00 Uhr geht’s los, es erwartet euch zudem ein Künstlergespräch, Musik von @hertreemusic und fürs leibliche Wohl ist auch gesorgt. 🙌🏼

Thankful that I was invited to present my work PERIOD. in the current edition of 24/7, the magazine of the German counseling hotline. Each edition has a certain topic, and this edition is dedicated to the topic „taboo“-gathering articles dealing with the different aspects and meanings of taboos. I am writing about my motivation, how the work developed and what I experienced in the process of production and presentation, remembering many interesting and inspiring conversation, not only with the editor in chief Bernadette Ott. Thank you!

I celebrate my blood. I used to love to bleed. Now it is over. Strength, vitality, joy...to feel the body, even in pain. But, also with lust and desire to live and love. I say goodbye forever/(to my forever), feel transience. The realisation and certainty that time passes, that things have and had their time, that yesterday no longer enters tomorrow, except as a memory, no longer as a possibility, makes me pause and consciously say goodbye in small rituals whose timing is determined by my body. The rhythm is repetitive, the pressure on the paper powerful, as if I could hold on to something, stop it, keep it. A final homage.

part of this year’s auction (24 October 2023) at Academy of Fine Arts Munich organised by @akademieverein 🙏

In this series I used showroom with its exhibited furniture to explore the question of the relationship between physical space and experienced time or a non-linear time experience. In the process, the exhibition space is played with as an inhabited space and becomes a place of intimate events of contemplation, retreat and memory. The work refers to the question of the extent to which rooms and objects are carriers of memory: on the one hand charged with experiences, such as those preserved in the children’s room at the family home, and on the other hand also connected with desires and expectations arising from the need for comfort and security. Rooms are thus revealed as places of haunting the past as well as places for projecting wishes and refuge.

Even if the annual exhibition/Jahresausstellung 2023 at the Academy of Fine Arts Munich has
closed its doors at the end of July, it is never too late for some impressions and to say thank
you for a new experience in exhibiting with a class of sensitive and strong student artists and
a wonderful new professor. Under the title „In Time Passing“ Alexandra Pirici curated an
exhibition in our class room that led us to receiving the Award of the Akademieverein for this
year’s most convincing class presentation within the Jahresausstellung. Grateful we are, I am.

An attempt to explore the polarities that make water, or the lack of it, an essential element
of life: too little causes drought and dryness, too much causes flooding and inundation - the
earth breaks up or is swept away.

The intake of water is a need and a necessity. In animals and humans, swallowing is a reflex and a conscious act that no one can take away. It means vitality. Water is the main supplier of this vitality. Water flows through the bodies. This materialisation is being, is the connection with the world. It is the water from the world, the water of this earth into which we pass. A cycle that is superior to us.

But swallowing is also an act thatclarifies the inside and outside and their exchange in another sense. "Having to swallow something (first)". An example of a proverb that indicates a disturbance in the processing of something that seeks its way into the individual from outside, from the world. That has to be "digested" on a spiritual-emotional level. A disturbance that, while not necessarily destroying vitality, nevertheless threatens it and triggers fear.

I am very happy to be part of the exhibition of the 29th Aichacher Kunstpreis with my diptych work “Misun”. Thanks to the @kunstvereinaichach for this beautiful show and congratulations to the winners, @klasseziese from @adbk_nuernberg. In the last picture you can see a part of their impressive tufting work. The show is up until Sunday 24 October and closes with the award of a public price.
