The Sovereign Court - Darbar of Maharaja Ranjit Singh This painting was very challenging for me as i had to study various clothing of that time also i had studied the original paintings of maharaja ranjit singh’s court by artist of that time some were made by foreign artist , some were miniature paintings , then i developed my own composition in perspective from imagination so that was the most interesting part as all the earlier paintings were either miniatures or realistic ones were in linear perspective so i wanted create a court painting with more dynamic perspective ,and also drawing people in perspective is my fav genre so i really enjoyed drawing a lot of figures in this one with there unique characteristics , and i also think this painting is one of my best painting till date i hope everyone will enjoy seeing this painting 🙌🏻🙌🏻❤️ I made this painting for this year’s Sikh Heritage Month Art Exhibition “Baaghi Ja Badshah” 30x44 Inches Watercolor on paper Will post the concept and details of this painting in next post #watercolor #illustration #painting #maharajaranjitsingh #sikhart by @sikhheritagemonth
”The Rebel“ Maharaja Duleep Singh Watercolor on Arches , 22 x 30 inches In this artwork I depicted an imaginative scene of Maharaja Duleep Singh with symbolic elements to showcase his rebellion against the British Empire and his deep feelings and connection towards his Sikh roots and Punjab. As seen in the composition, Duleep Singh is holding a piece of flour 🌾 (kanak) and is walking through the gallery of a British building in England. There were other flowers and plants of England present in the surroundings, yet he chose to carry kanak in his hand. This symbolized that although he was brought up in England, he had begun to realize his connection to Punjab and the Sikh Empire. The thoughts of rebellion had started stirring in his mind, and he chose to take a stand, gradually embracing and taking pride in his true identity as the Maharaja of Punjab. The light of sunset is falling upon him, symbolizing hope and faith in the future ahead. I showed Duleep Singh’s shadow cast on the wall as the silhouette of Maharaja Ranjit Singh to represent the legacy he came from, suggesting that he is a reflection of Ranjit Singh’s ideas and vision. #sikhart #watercolor #punjab #sikh #maharajaduleepsingh (SikhArt , painting ,watercolor, maharajaDuleepsingh, punjab ) by @sikhheritagemonth
Today marks the anniversary of the 1986 Khalistan Declaration, a moment shaped by resistance, collective identity, and the reaffirmation of Sikh sovereignty through the Sarbat Khalsa. Held under intense repression, the Sarbat Khalsa has long served as a gathering of the Panth to come together and make decisions in the spirit of unity and Gurmat. For this year’s Baaghi Ja Badshah exhibit, the Sikh Heritage Month Foundation commissioned original works exploring these themes. One featured piece is a Sarbat Khalsa scene by Harpreet Singh, a college student, who uses watercolour to capture the scale, emotion, and energy of the sangat. Tomorrow marks the last day to view the Baaghi ja Badshah exhibit, with free admission at the Peel Art Gallery, Museum & Archives. by @sikhheritagemonth
