I cut out my inner landscape in cotton paper.
Copenhagen based.
POSTS STORIES REELS
My practice explores our relationship with nature — and the tension between something vast and powerful, and something fragile and intimate. I work primarily with cotton paper and watercolour, cutting into the surface by hand, one small gesture at a time. Hundreds of tiny cuts slowly form landscapes, organic shapes and fragments of places that have stayed with me. I’m interested in the space between image and object, landscape and memory, fragility and strength. My works are less about depicting a specific place, and more about capturing something of how it feels to be there. Silke by @silkebonde
This work comes from a sensitive experience in the Norwegian landscape this summer. I remember the mountains as something immense and almost brutal — raw, quiet and completely beyond me. And yet, standing there, I also felt an intense sense of fragility. I tried to let those two feelings exist together in this piece. The shape is strong and almost heavy, while the surface is made from hundreds of small, fragile cuts, slowly carved into the paper by hand. A mountain built from tiny gestures. Currently exhibited at Artpartment in Copenhagen. ‘Fjeld’ by @silkebonde

Opbrud 2025 67 x 48 cm Opbrud depicts a sky in upheaval — a moment where clouds, light and movement seem to dissolve into one another. But the rupture is also an inner one. A sense that something is shifting, breaking open, and making space for something new. What at first appears unsettled can also become liberating; an upheaval can carry the possibility of transformation. I work with paper by cutting into its surface, slowly breaking apart what was once whole. Through hundreds of small openings, the solid sheet begins to dissolve, and a new form emerges from what has been removed. In Opbrud, this process becomes part of the meaning of the work. The paper is opened rather than destroyed. Light enters through the ruptures, shadows begin to form, and something new takes shape in the space between what remains and what has been released. Root systems, grounding structures, and the strength it takes to remain standing while continuing to grow. To reach for the light while staying connected to what holds us in place. How do we remain strong and rooted while allowing ourselves to be vulnerable, to change, to unfold towards the sun? Perhaps fragility is not the opposite of strength, but its the very foundation. Perhaps it is in our openness, our uncertainty, and our willingness to be shaped by what we hold close that our deepest strength takes root. Standing strong while reaching the sun. Mothertree, 2026.
