The Bayeux Tapestry is now in London. Just before Covid shut everything down we took an almost 2 month trip around France, from Reims to the Mediterranean to Bordeaux, Bretagne and Normandy before returning to Paris. One of the highlights was the famous tapestry and it was so awesome that after slowly enjoying it from beginning to end, we looked at each other and said, let’s see it all again! The main part was amazing (especially as an embroiderer myself) but what thrilled me was the supposedly unrelated work in the margins. Like, what is this about? by @silksongstudio

I was just thinking about how when we first started using “Ms.” as an alternative to “Miss” or “Mrs.” a lot of people reacted to it the way many react to “they/them.” Thank you, Gloria. I’m playing the Patti Smith version of “Gloria” in your honor. by @silksongstudio

About 20 turkey vultures have been vacationing at our ranch for the past several days. “I hope they’re not waiting for someone to die,”I said yesterday morning. By the afternoon I realized they were here for an all-you-can-eat event. There is something big and dead in the woods above our house. Debating whether to go up the hill to investigate or just let the birds continue with their banquet.
数日前から20羽くらいのハゲタカが我が家の周りでくつろいでいます。「誰か死ぬの待ってんじゃないよね」と声をかけたり。昨日の夕方、臭いでわかった。山の中に何か大きな死骸があるのね。数日かけても終わらない食べ放題イベント。山を登って確かめようか？それとも、このまま彼らのご馳走の邪魔をしないで放っておくか？ by @silksongstudio

Said HI to a gorgeous peacock and three peahens on my way to a fundraiser yesterday morning. They were having a little sip from our creek. Up the road, drove slowly past a big flock of wild turkeys. Mornings are for wildlife. Please drive slowly and carefully!

Bailey Grrrl has been having a tough time on our floors, especially the cork floor in the kitchen. I just ordered half a dozen yoga mats but in the meantime gathered rugs from everywhere to put in our kitchen and Big Room.

Gorgeous Mission San Luis Rey in Oceanside, CA. Not many Californian missions incorporate indigenous elements despite using their labor to build them but this one featured native cultural motifs.
