wipii !! it’s been soo long since i last did pole (2 years i think) and also a long time away from the silks ❤️‍🩹❤️‍🩹 but my little session with the best teacher @kalil_bat yesterday made my heart very happy.
my thighs remember how painful a pole sit is, but it isn’t something dopamine can’t fix

an extremely extremely long overdue post, brought to my memory as I remember my 2023. this is easily one of my proudest moments this year.

im happy to take my choreographic practice with me mid-air

i remember being so nervous applying for this back in january, my parents had to sign an indemnity form because i was still seventeen. my ma’s voice comes in at the very end of the score i did on garageband. (the score which was mostly sounds of me ripping tissue at my museum job) this video was taken by my dad’s shaky hand. my grandparents, aunts, friends, came to see me that day. they liked it a lot.

the day of both performances, the hot evening wind was blowing my silks away from me, and i had never practiced outdoors till then. a rip meant i had to change to a totally new silk for the last show.
you can hear the live audience commentaries in the video- it’s actually pretty funny

been quite a year 🤍

Salto Star Drop! 💫

One of my best attempts thus far, very very proud 🥹 The Star Dropis slowly becoming my go-to favourite silk drop 💗💗

I remember doing this drop for the very first time in Silks 5 and it felt like being in an airborne car crash (which is a plane crash). The salto forward flip was so disorienting to recover from and into the star, I will definitely post my fail videos because my screams that first lesson were iconic.

I have very fond memories of that practice because I was really feeling the background Giveon 😩😩. Tried to coordinate my drops with the beat drop 💁🏻 also the ending was really sassy too so - 💅🏻

Star Wrap to Ankle Hang Drop 🌠🦶🏻😱

👋🏻 hello to silks 5 and hello to the most terrifying drop I’ve ever done! 👋🏻 my brains are rattled, my knees weak, and hands shaky. my life flashed before my eyes but i didn’t notice at that time because i closed my eyes as i fell. I only now realise how much I flopped like a ragdoll cat 🐱. This is bungee jumping, but spinning version 🌀😵‍💫

My first class ever at @aerialartscollective kicked off with @pammieaerials throwing us into the deep end with the ankle hang drop. @joy_totheworldd kicked off our first silks 5 class this term with this stunner (literally). At this point I think this is a rite of passage at the studio.

it’s been a hot minute since i posted but here’s the sequence from where we left off (following the loop split)

Loop Split > Music Box > Ankle Hang > Hipkey Lever Split > Slack Drop > END

I have many more videos to post as I continue to refine and make sections smoother throughout this choreography, but this video is special because:

- it was the lesson I first learnt the slack drop
- Victoria and i did the drop in sync

3x Straddle Climb > Footlock > Amazon > Straddle Invert > Fallen Angel > Eggbeater Footlock > Standing Split

I’ve had AMAZING progress with my level 4 silks choreography, super duper proud of my 3 consecutive straddle climbs ‼️‼️It does get easier the more I do it, and I think it’s crazy that I’ve improved so much from when I struggled with these climbs the last lesson. Will continue experimenting what works best for me (especially gaining altitude).

Had a tiny bump in getting the first footlock in place, especially gauging the length of silk needed to wrap around my foot, but that gets better with practice 😌

Fallen Angel also had a minor glitch I kind of lost momentum and paused when I was vertically upside down 😳. I will be working on finding a flow from the forward pike and grabbing the silks before pushing my legs down into the back hang, so that’s some coordination to work on!

In general, I want to work on smoothening out the transitions between steps and freely indulge in snippets of artistry here and there ✨ALSO this choreography has been really challenging my upper body endurance.. and the routine isn’t completed yet 😰😖
