Many people still haven’t heard of the Gaslamp Fantasy genre but it’s a sub-genre that’s really taken off in the last five to ten years. Combining Victorian aesthetics with sorcery and myth, influences like Frankenstein and Dracula, romances like Jane Eyre and Wuthering Heights and even some of the works of Jane Austen, you can get an idea of what GF offers. It’s not straight up Gothic - there’s more of an adventurous nature to it but it certainly carries some of the same elements. It’s similar to Steampunk but the emphasis is on magic instead of science fiction. My books are mildly spicy but contain plenty of action, yearning and magic. If this is your cup of tea, check them out. by @sillwill_studios

I’ve been finding that it appears my books are being found many times by word-of-mouth. Perhaps even more than on social media. Can’t figure out how to measure that though. Anyone else have a good word-of-mouth experience? by @sillwill_studios

So, I’m a little late to this discussion but the battle between “Smut” and “Clean” romance/romantasy or explicit vs closed door is never fully resolved - which is okay in the long run. In the end, it really comes down to readers being able to choose what they wish to read without being constrained by someone else’s preferences. Of course, there’s much more nuance and layers to this position but that’s where I stand. by @sillwill_studios

This was the first Sarnia Bookfest and this is just my initial impression. I always kind of crash after an event but I will be doing more of a breakdown for myself over the next couple of days. I had been getting rather discouraged with the state of things lately and it was encouraging to speak with authors and readers. It helps in ways that can’t be quantified. by @sillwill_studios

“Human Scars on Planet Skin” is a sci-fi/horror standalone that could be a Studio Ghibli film. A story centred on Shroompeople and Insects on a sentient planet trying to recover from the trauma of human colonization makes for a hauntingly strange and unique tale from Effie Joe Stock and Nathaniel Luscombe.
