What makes our digital marketing agency different than any other agency out there? The next level care behind the work. We refuse to look at our clients as another account to manage or put their posts on autopilot where it becomes maintenance instead of intention. I recently had a conversation with @soniabarneydesign of Kaivari ( @kaivarico ), a one-on-one expert matching service membership that was created for interior designers to connect with experts, coaches, and service providers to support their business goals. We discussed the role that AI is playing in business, branding, and creative work and we found ourselves aligning on one thing: If a business is allowing AI to make business decisions for them, that is going too far. It’s becoming increasingly easy to automate the words, ideas, strategy, and even the decisions behind a brand. And while AI is an incredibly useful tool, we’re seeing the downside of letting it become the driving force and foundation which has resulted in MANY brands feeling, looking, and soundly remarkably similar. Originality comes from experience, perspective, personality, and the human decisions behind a brand. That is the irreplaceable history that makes a brand memorable. Let this be your reminder, that AI IS A TOOL. Utilize it if necessary to create a more streamlined process, but don’t let the convenience replace your human given discernment, creativity, strategy, and your own point of view. The longer I’ve been in business, the more I realize that some of the most important lessons are the ones I’ve relearned in my 30’s. • Resting isn’t unproductive: I used to feel like I always needed to be busy. Now I’m learning that stepping away is okay, taking a real break from working, and giving myself time to recharge actually pours back into my cup that I can then pour into our clients. You can’t pour from an empty cup. • Boundaries with clients are necessary: This isn’t just a one case scenario, it is required for ALL clients. Being accommodating doesn’t mean being available for everything, everyone, at all times. Clear boundaries create healthier client relationships and reveal clear expectations from the start. • Not every opportunity is a good one: Just because someone wants to work with you doesn’t mean you have to say yes. I’ve learned that considering if an opportunity aligns with my business, values, and goals is essential in creating a business I love. • Don’t take everything personally: Criticism, feedback, a client changing their mind, or someone not loving a presented piece of work doesn’t mean failure. There is always something more to learn from feedback and in the long run, it has helped shape me into a more well-rounded business owner. • Getting something wrong doesn’t mean FAILURE: There have been plenty of times I’ve made the weakest choice, underestimated something, or simply got it wrong. Business has taught me that mistakes are part of the process. Be a forever student and learn from it. I’m realizing that growing a business isn’t just about learning how to do more.
