Throughout this year, as I painted and reflected, I began to discover that many of the most important things in life are found in the simplest moments.

In family, in the values we have been taught, in the lessons we carry with us, and in our everyday experiences, we often find our greatest strength.

Through my paintings, I have wanted to express these feelings, memories, and lessons that help us recognize what truly matters.

Today, I feel inspired to begin sharing some of these works with you, each one with its own story.

“Sustained Through Adversity”
Oil on canvas.

This painting portrays Jesus Christ embracing Peter after a moment of weakness, in the midst of the storm.

Even in the storms of our own lives, when we feel that we have failed or that we are alone, Christ remains by our side. Even when we cannot see Him, He sustains us and holds us closer when we need Him most.

He Is the Way

With this painting, my intention is to invite others to contemplate life as a spiritual journey guided by Jesus Christ.

Even in the midst of storms, trials, and uncertainty, heaven remains connected to the earth. His light continues to open before us, reminding us that we never walk alone.

We often live surrounded by noise, fear, and pain, but when we learn to see with greater depth, we can also discover the beauty, peace, and hope that God left for us to find our way back to Him.

In this painting, Jesus Christ walks through the waters as a serene and eternal presence. The light opens like a doorway between heaven and earth, symbolizing the path He taught us to follow.

The waters represent the difficulties of life, but also movement, growth, and the transformation of the soul. And in the midst of them, His presence reminds us that there is always a way back to our heavenly home.

He is the way.He guides us through the storms. And through Him, we can move forward with faith toward eternity.

On this Mother’s Day, this artwork is dedicated especially to the woman I am blessed to call my mother, who throughout her life has remained steadfastly anchored in Jesus Christ, finding in Him the strength to endure every season, every joy, and every storm.

Now, at 85 years old, after a lifetime devoted to love and service, she continues to be for me a living example of faith, perseverance, and tenderness.

Mother of three daughters, grandmother of twelve grandchildren, and great-grandmother of nineteen great-grandchildren —and those yet to come—, her life has been a constant embrace. She has sustained her family with love, patience, and devotion, while also opening her heart to anyone in need of comfort, refuge, or hope, always reminding us that we are all children of God.

Life brings storms.
There are waves that exhaust us, losses that wound us, and moments when the heart seems unable to find rest. Yet even in the midst of chaos, Christ sustains, embraces, and guides.

Holding onto Him does not remove the waves, but it allows us to pass through them.

He walks beside us in adversity, strengthens us when we feel we can no longer continue, and gently leads us back toward the light and toward the presence of the Father.

Through this work, I also wish to honor all mothers and women who, often silently, continue carrying others while enduring storms of their own.

My hope is that every woman who sees this painting will remember that she is not alone. That Jesus Christ knows her, loves her, and remains near even in the most difficult moments.

And just as He sustains us, may we also become arms of love, faith, and refuge for others in need of hope.

Selections from the International Art Competition.

Artistic expressions of faith are as diverse in style and technique as the artists themselves. Enjoy this selection from the last four editions of the competition, where artists reflected on these themes:

This season don’t forget to give a card to someone and make them feel special 🩷

This artwork is called He Is Risen.

When I painted it, I was thinking about that sacred moment when everything changes. The open stone of the tomb, on the left side, represents the death that He overcame, but more than that, it reminds us that nothing can stop the power of Jesus Christ.

He, as the Son of God, perfect and without sin, descended below all things. He suffered more than we can truly understand… and still, He fulfilled His mission. He rose again. And in this piece, we see Him moving forward, because He lives. Because He continues to guide us back to the Father, to that eternal place where everything makes sense.

The vertical composition reflects that upward path toward eternity. I wanted to create an atmosphere where you can feel that moment of victory… that instant when light overcomes everything forever.

For me, this piece is also a personal reminder, that every sacrifice is worth it, that pain is not the end, and that there is always hope.

It makes me think of our loved ones… the ones we miss so deeply. Knowing that, because of Him, they are free from all pain brings me peace. And it gives me the certainty that this is not a final goodbye… that we will be together again.

At the same time, I feel this artwork is an invitation, not to keep this knowledge to ourselves, but to share it. To speak about that deep peace that we can only find in Jesus Christ, our Savior and Redeemer.

He Is Risen.
7 And if Christ had not risen from the dead, or have broken the bands of death that the grave should have no victory, and that death should have no sting, there could have been no resurrection.

8 But there is a resurrection, therefore the grave hath no victory, and the sting of death is swallowed up in Christ.

9 He is the light and the life of the world; yea, a light that is endless, that can never be darkened; yea, and also a life which is endless, that there can be no more death.
Mosiah 16: 7-9
