Moreover, no one knows when their hour will come:

As fish are caught in a cruel net,
or birds are taken in a snare,
so people are trapped by evil times
that fall unexpectedly upon them.
- Ecclesiastes 9:12

In this meaningless life of mine I have seen both of these: the righteous perishing in their righteousness, and the wicked living long in their wickedness. - Ecclesiastes 7:15

Do not be overly wicked, nor be foolish: Why should you die before your time? - Ecclesiastes 7:17

As dead flies cause even a bottle of perfume to stink, so a little foolishness spoils great wisdom and honor. - Ecclesiastes 10:1

I am not religious but this Sunday will mark my 6 months. These passages spoke to me while visiting the ghost town of Dorothy, Alberta. The flies buzzed next to the restored church pews, the pages of the sacred texts and the scuffed wooden floors of the church were well worn. The echoing of my footsteps did not mask the sickly smell of wood rot. There is no reward for your suffering and there is no light at the end of the tunnel. For who do you toil? How can the human race vanquish evil when justice does not prevail? Or when the evil is within ourselves? taken in Dorothy, Alberta by @silvercabbagemoth
