Mrs. Hansard opened up her home to the sophomore girls for an afternoon of fun, conversation, good food, and fellowship. She does these lunches throughout the year for each high school grade level by gender, so she will have 8 lunches this school year. It is her way of being intentional about building relationships with students because she spends much of her time doing the work that makes our Academy such a great place. Mrs. Hansard loves to surprise students - this time, there was a Seahawk Soda Bar with different flavorings they could add to a soda! #SBAco29 #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

Preschoolers on Parade! What is even sweeter than a preschooler dressed up as a favorite book character parading through the halls? A line of middle schoolers excitedly cheering for them! We love finding meaningful opportunities for students of different ages to interact with each other and support one another. 🥰 by @silverdaleba

We were delighted to welcome quite a few families yesterday to our Kindergarten Preview Day. Preview days such as these enable us to give tours and information to prospective families tailored to the age of their child. We know choosing a school for your child is a big decision and we are honored to have so many families considering Silverdale. Middle schoolers from the Core Leadership Club assisted with the Preview Day because it is good practice for them and because our students are our best recommendation! #SBAPreviewDays #SBAAdmissions #SBAKindergarten #SBAMiddleSchoolCoreLeadershipClub #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

His Company, under the artistic direction of Mrs. Hope Beckwith, presented three dances in high school and middle school chapel yesterday. Each semester, we focus exclusively on worship during one chapel, and the dancers did a beautiful job leading the student body in worship. Mrs. Beckwith also spoke to students about how our entire lives should be an expression of worship, a heart posture that gives God the glory for every good gift He has given. #SBADance #SBAChapel #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

Students in Mrs. Baker's high school art classes designed wire sculptures in the STEAM lab. They came up with a concept, formed the wire to make the sculpture, mounted it to a wood block, and then painted it. We think they turned out great! #SBAArt #STEAMLab #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

Middle schoolers participated in service projects during today’s half day. The sixth grade did clean up at the Chickamauga Battlefield, and seventh graders did a variety of projects including cleaning up Friar Branch Creek with Mr. Buckler and a cleanup of Collegedale Greenway. Eighth graders packed shoe boxes for Operation Christmas Child and also did clean up jobs on campus and at the Silverdale Cemetery.

One seventh grade class participated in “Operation Muffins,” baking delicious muffins in our Culinary Kitchen, and then hand delivering them to staff at Bess T. Shepherd Elementary, workers at the Oaks Coffeehouse, and firefighters at two local fire stations. Participation in days like these not only helps our students develop a heart for service but also teaches them to “leave a place better than they found it.” #SBAServes #SBAMiddleSchool #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

Silverdale was the host school for ACSI USA's Chattanooga Leadership Network Meeting yesterday morning, which provided an opportunity for leaders of Christian schools to meet together to discuss issues of import to their schools. Working together with other Christian schools, sharing the best ideas, and praying for one another builds unity that is God-honoring. #ACSI #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

Students in Mr. Knapp's 8th grade science class completed a speed and velocity lab outdoors, which taught them important scientific principles in a way they are sure to remember! Students chose different methods of movement to go between two places, determining distance and displacement and then calculating velocity and speed. The goal of the lab was to help students see the actual difference between the two. They found that displacement can never be greater than distance, and therefore, velocity can never be greater than speed. We love seeing students learn in ways that help learning stick! #SBAMiddleSchool #SBAScience #SOAR #HandsOnLearning #WeAreSilverdale by @silverdaleba

Help us honor those who served!

In celebration of America’s 250th anniversary, Silverdale is collecting donations for Wreaths Across Chattanooga with a goal of sponsoring 250 wreaths to be placed on veterans’ graves.
At only $10 each, sponsoring a few wreaths is a meaningful way to honor the men and women who served our country. A portion of all shirt, decal, and hat sales will also help purchase wreaths!
