The Watercolor Polaroid that wasn't.

I mean, I didn't paint this one on location - just fished out a pre-painted one from my bag, walked over to the spot, gently evicted two guys taking selfies, got my shot, and smugly walked back to my puzzled friends who took a few moments to comprehend my mad moves. Low effort but satisfying :)

What a summer!

Even the nights are too warm for walks.. I've been holed up in my "bunker" painting, bookbinding and bingeing on mangoes and shows (The Capture and Rabbithole were fun).

And dreaming about cooler times in Coonoor.

What I specifically recall about this watercolor painting is how I couldn't go back to the actual spot (a little further from Tea Nest) where I took the ref. photos because we were driving back to Bangalore in another direction. And so throughout the drive I kept trying to find a location that matched the painting 😁

Anyway, hoping the weatherman's right about Thursday's thunderstorm 🤞

Most gorgeous sauna I've been to 🏆: Kakolem beach!

~ ~~ 🐚⛱️🌴🌊🏝️⛵~ ~ ~

Back from another Goa trip and I have got sore legs, itchy insect bites, a deep tan and a very full heart!

This secluded spot was on the top of our list and it did not disappoint with its quiet, wild beauty. The small "trek" down the steamy, steep hill was dotted with interesting botanical finds, an occasional grass snake and lovely views. The beach itself was hot and sultry (sunscreen made me feel way worse) but still absolutely lovely!

We sat at the only shack for a good hour or so and my indulgent friends let me paint to my heart's content. I also brought a pre-painted watercolor bookmark that I will post later. Personally, a 15/10 experience.

Simple watercolor floral bookmark 🎨🖌️

Just paint some cascading five-petal flowers and buds. Connect with stems. Add leaves, and details in the centre of each flower and you're done!

Super Cubbon Paints day! As usual I had not planned what I would paint so I plucked wild Wedelia flowers from the pond...

Scared a few waterbirds in the process.

Didn't finish my painting in time so admired the others

So precise and cool!

Lovely acrylic grapes!

Love the fish tails!

Spotted what I call styrofoam shrooms aka fairy ink caps.

Yuki the golden who likes wearing "headphones" (earmuffs) 😄

Said hi to Eddie

And wondered why the white tabby trees are blooming now! Poor things have been fooled by El Nino into thinking it's February, I guess

A few weeks ago I picked up this Languo mini watercolour palette and their mini watercolour book from @hindustanonline , planning to eventually refill them with my own supplies. With zero pressure to make "proper" paintings, I've just been having fun playing with abstract shapes and colours.

What I love about the palette are the cute folding mixing areas, the built-in water cup, and the tiny brush. The paints are student-grade, and I deliberately went for the Macaron set for the fun shades. If you want to make more serious art with it, you'll need to bring your own darks (I use the tiny Camel set) and bigger brushes, or just grab the Classic set for a standard palette.

The mini watercolour book is handy for quick sketches on the go. It's basic cellulose paper so don't expect perfect results. I'll swap in my preferred paper once the current sheets run out.

Overall: cute, compact, and reusable. Very happy with both. taken in Church Street by @silvermoonbrush

Happy Monday!

And for me, happy memories of painting this beautiful Petrea bush outside my office! 🌿

Taking the picture took longer than usual because of the bees! 🐝

As did the actual painting.

Was crazy busy at work then and it took me a couple of weekends to figure out the background bokeh effect. So I kept the flowers really simple.

The bees didn't care :))

Hope March is kind to all of us.

When I took this picture I was hopeful and happy. And blissfully unaware that another war was starting. Just found out.

Hope it ends soon.

A watercolor and gouache dandelion that I painted earlier but didn't post because it was stained by a coffee accident .

Happy to report now that I tried the magic eraser hack on it and it works!

So you basically "clean" the area with a small damp piece of magic eraser. The rubbing action will remove the stain along with the topmost layer. The paper will pill and the paint itself can spread so try it on non-precious artwork. Then brush off the fibres and smooth the spot with the back of a spoon.

It's not perfect but I'm quite happy with the results!
