Collection of birds photographed in June. Sadly my @sonyalpha 200-600G just randomly stopped working (won't focus, getting an F-- error) and I'll have to find a place to get it repaired. But enjoyed busting out the binoculars and just watching with friends for the rest of the month. More photos on my site, link in bio.

It's been a little over a month since my last garden update! I should have posted a couple weeks ago, because by now some of the tiny sprouts from the end of May have been completely harvested and eaten. I took all these photos early on the predicted hottest day of the year so far, as the heat dome has fully descended on us. (Predicted to feel like 110°F today.)

I've individually captioned each picture; swipe through!

Here are some of the marigolds that are all over the garden. I started all of them from seed--some I saved from past years, some from a seed packet--and they were pretty sad when I first put them in the beds but are doing so well now!

This mostly peppers: jalapenos in the foreground, shishito toward the left, bell peppers not visible in the back corner. I've read that bell peppers take forever, and they are definitely doing that. Those plants aren't nearly as tall as the hot peppers. The large mass of leaves to the right is broccoli rabe, and along the edge on the right are carrots that seem to be doing nothing much. Scattered around are scallions and leeks that are slowly growing.

In this bed, everything but the shishitos was started from seed.

This is the pepper bed from another angle. You can see lots of flowers on the hot peppers, a good sign that the shade cloth is helping keep the plant's stress levels down!

This bed has purple string beans in the foreground, and two tomatoes toward the back left. There's also Thai basil, parsley, leeks, and calendula. The tomatoes and leeks are from a local nursery, but everything else was from seed.

This bed previously had all our lettuce and arugula, which we made sure to eat before it got too hot. I'll sow some more of those later in July I think.

The eggplant (from the local nursery) has gotten HUGE and has several fruits starting! The marigolds are engulfing some parsley I started at the front. Next photo shows the rest of this bed.

Behind the eggplant we have calendula, kale, long beans, a few radishes (that are really unhappy), sugar baby watermelon, and two tomatoes.

This bed previously had a bunch of radishes, beets, and dill that have all been harvested. I just sowed some more dill in he by @silvernome

Migration season was amazing last month! Lucky to get out quite a few times to see all the warblers and other seasonal visitors. Even added two new lifers to our list! Here's just a few of my favorites, tons more on my site (link in bio)
