It's the dryness loop, and I see it perpetuated all. the. time.

They'll say, "My hair is SO dry, I never use shampoo. I just wash with conditioner and oil it regularly."

But I push back because they still describe their hair as extremely dry. If these methods were working for their curls, wouldn't their hair feel soft and hydrated? At least some of the time?

The first step to hydrated hair is using a good shampoo. A shampoo that is gentle, but effective, will get buildup off your curls without leaving you feeling stripped. Then, your hair is receptive to hydration. Your conditioner can deliver proteins and nutrients all the way into the cortex of your hair strands before sealing in the moisture.

That's how you hydrate your curls.

It never fails. Every week, alongside giving out product recommendations at our local events, we slip into curly hair styling mentor mode. Don't get me wrong, we love it. But, the techniques we recommend vary depending on our own personal wash day preferences.

I'm a stong advocate of sectioning your hair and brush styling to get definition, frizz control, and volume at the roots. I don't finger coil, unless it is to quickly fix a curl gone crazy somewhere toward to front. My hair tends to clump easily on itself, so I focus on separating my large clumps.

Brenna, though, finger coils her hair to achieve her stunning look. This gives her more control to get definition and volume at the roots. Her curls tend to want to separate, so she has to make them clump together.

Another Event Ambassador, we'll call her A, gives way more laid back advice. She's a fan of raking her products through and lightly scrunching.

Never-ending might be an overstatement, but it definitely decreases the amount of times you're stretching the last bit of gel hoping it covers you until your next order comes in.

Confidence, comfort in one's own skin. These are the things that come to mind when someone asks me, "What kind of business do you have?"

We help encourage confidence for our curly-haired friends. We want them to feel comfortable rocking their own, unique curls.

I remember growing up and feeling so out of place with my frizzy, poofy hair. I had no idea how to care for it or style it. Grocery store products made my hair look greasy and feel crunchy, and my hair usually ended up in a messy bun anyway.

The transformation my hair has undergone with the right techniques and the right products (obvs, ours 😜) has given me confidence and comfort and I am so happy to share it with so many others. When I get bogged down by the administrative duties of my role, I can temporarily forget the meaning of it all. Then, an email like this so succinctly reminds me what we are doing here.

Having 32 oz of my favorite curl gel and serum in my cabinet comforts a part of my brain I didn't even know was anxious.

It feels like I have unlimited amount of styling days ahead of me and the amount of times I curse myself for not ordering more sooner are going to be few and far between.

Hello, bulk size!
