Director @joecarabeo_photography was honored to be selected to be part of the first ever @silvervoxfest and screen PAUL POPE:THB and be part of the filmmaker director panel "No permission needed". I had a blast at the film and music festival, there was so much to see and experience, met some amazing people and was able to watch @kishi_bashi @diiv @cultscultscults at the @weinberg.center

At a recent screening, someone asked if the current backlash against DEI initiatives has made it difficult for us.

The answer: Yes—and bring it on.

ABOUT FACE: Disrupting Ballet spotlights dancers Georgina Pazcoguin and Phil Chan who launched the Final Bow for Yellowface movement that challenges the dance world to rid the stage of offensive racial stereotypes.

So it’s rewarding to see that the film is having an impact.

Thanks to the SilverVox Film + Music Festival in Frederick, MD for acknowledging ABOUT FACE as its Best Documentary Feature.

The festival cited ABOUT FACE for its “powerful exploration of its subject” and ability to “inspire meaningful conversation long after the credits roll.”

That’s always been our hope—to get people talking.

The Road to SilverVox Begins.

Join us as we launch the Road to SilverVox a year-long series of concerts, films, and creative experiences leading to the SilverVox Film & Music Festival | May 6–9, 2027.

Our inaugural event brings the spirit of Nashville to downtown Frederick.

We're thrilled to welcome Jaime Fox, an acclaimed Nashville singer-songwriter whose soulful voice, honest storytelling, and captivating performances have earned her a devoted following. Blending Americana, folk, and country influences, Jaime creates the kind of music that stays with you long after the last note.

Joining Jaime is Dave Ziebarth, one of the Mid-Atlantic's most respected guitarists, songwriters, and performers. Based in the Maryland/DC region, Dave is a frequent collaborator in Nashville, where he co-writes and performs with Jaime and other accomplished songwriters. Known for his expressive guitar work and exceptional musicianship, Dave has become a sought-after collaborator, seamlessly bridging the rich songwriting traditions of Nashville with the vibrant music scene here at home.

Together, Jaime and Dave bring an authentic songwriter experience intimate, heartfelt, and filled with the kind of chemistry that only comes from years of creating music together.

No, thank YOU, Lauren LaRocca & FNP ❤️

One moment from the festival that has stayed with me was Jackson, the Cults superfan you mentioned in your article. He showed up at noon and waited all day for the show. Seeing his excitement, it felt only right to find a way to get him and his dad into a pair of VIP seats in the front row.

As I walked them down, I looked at his dad and said, "Good job, Dad." It was Father's Day. Jackson was crying. His dad was crying. I was crying.

In that moment, all the pioneer planning (b/c it was scary & honestly we had no idea what would become of this) endless meetings, spreadsheets, and stress melted away. That's why we do this.

Lauren- Your kind words will fuel us well into 2027 and beyond. Cheers to many more opportunities to be a positive impact in each others lives🥂✨

Had a fantastic time last weekend at the inaugural @silvervoxfest! We were so happy to have the opportunity to bring Operation: Wet Paint back to the town where we shot it and honored for our short to have made it into the Audience Faves Encore screening! It was great seeing old friends and making some new ones. Can’t wait for the next one! by @silvervoxfest

This photo. Not the red carpets. Not the premieres. Not the packed venues.
This one.

The behind-the-scenes moments. The long days that blurred into longer nights. The endless texts, spreadsheets, site visits, phone calls, problem solving, laughter, coffee, last-minute pivots, and countless acts of generosity that brought SilverVox to life.

When I look at this photo, I don't just see people. I see relationships. I see trust. I see months, and for some of us years, of work. I see exhaustion and determination living side by side. I see friends who became teammates and teammates who became family.

What happened in Frederick over those four days was the result of hundreds of people saying "yes" again and again. Yes to volunteering. Yes to sponsoring. Yes to performing. Yes to creating. Yes to believing that something special could happen here.

The festival may have lasted four days, but this photo captures the heart of SilverVox: community.

To everyone who helped build it, support it, champion it, and carry it across the finish line, thank you.

My heart is incredibly full.

What an incredible weekend at the SilverVox Film and Music Festival, proudly presented by the WLR Foundation.

The festival brought together filmmakers, musicians, artists, and community members for four days of creativity, storytelling, and connection. We enjoyed outstanding films, memorable performances, and meaningful conversations that showcased the talent and spirit of our community.

One of the weekend’s highlights was seeing our President & CEO, Randall Simpson, receive the Lightkeeper Award from Salyer McLaughlin, creator of Boomtown and Executive Director of Big Picture Media. This special honor recognizes individuals whose leadership and commitment inspire positive change and strengthen community connections. Congratulations, Randall, on this well-deserved recognition.

We were also proud to support the Frederick-based film Spinsters and celebrate its Audience Choice Feature Award win!

Thank you to everyone who attended, performed, volunteered, and helped make SilverVox such a memorable success. We’re grateful to have been part of this incredible celebration of arts, culture, and community, and we’re already looking forward to next year.
