POSTS STORIES REELS

I really don't know how to write about this without hitting all the cliches of it being "surreal," "an honor," or "something I couldn't have imagined," because all that is 1000% true. So I'll just take the space instead to say damn, sometimes you SHOULD meet your heros, and maybe you'll get to meet their lovely fiancée's too. Veronica and Jacob were just so unfailingly sweet, genuine, and inspiringly in love every moment we worked together over the months, despite the kind of pressures they were always under.

And a crazy thing that I keep thinking about is that in *their* journey about *their* dance and *their* wedding, they took the time and energy to build up *my* confidence. Being a small business owner often feels real similar to being an unemployed kid dressing up in adult clothes, and the idea of having my work in @people magazine after only a year and a half of officially starting my own studio is, uh, the reason I'm real good at breathing exercises now. But Veronica and Jacob never let my doubt grow too many roots. They trusted my vision even when I couldn't describe it perfectly and they never hesitated or questioned if I was up to a new idea or request. When a family tragedy hit, they treated my schedule as just as important as theirs. And my god, before, after, and during every lesson, the flood of kind words, laughs, and gratitude was just non-stop. And they really, really didn't have to do that. They had every right to write me off as just doing the job that they paid me for, and focus on the 1002 other things calling for their attention. But they took that time for me anyway.

So thank you, @verobatalon, @lifeisaloha for trusting me with something so vulnerable and intimate, even with my shitty website and free zoom meeting that timed out on y'all. Thank you for always coming in despite the gobsmacking amount of schedule-Tetris that required some weeks. You guys are so clearly, heartwarmingly in love and nobody deserves that more than the two of you.

Congratulations!

Gotta say, these are some of my favorite choreographies: They’re ambitious, they’re fun, and they just feel so, so personal to the couple. I don’t think I have to say any more really, just watch it through to the end.

An example of something simple, romantic, and elegant for my couples wanting a classic feel to their first dance.

If anyone wants to learn this choreography with their own teachers, all I ask is that you 1) reach out first, and 2) tag me if you post any videos of your final product! <3 <3

Instagram algorithms hate reels that are more than 60s so watch the rest on my website! Still one of my all time favorite choreographies, because man these two came up with most of it themselves and it’s bursting full of their personalities

Good photographable moments are choreographed in. Paired with a great photographer, and you get masterpieces like these. My kudos to @kyliegracefilms for these, oh my goodness!

No one will hype you on your dance like your dance teacher

Well sometimes you just read a testimonial and cry. And sometimes you cry again when you read it the second time.

When you start getting too comfortable with your students and corrections start coming out in weirder and weirder voices AKA more of me terrorizing the couple from the last post

One of my favorite tricks to add some drama and flourish to a routine - use the first verse of your dance song as your grand entrance music. Even better if it's the reception dress reveal! Having that seamless flow just gives the evening such a sense of polish, and bonus points, it isn't more choreography to memorize!
