We created her with a mind, with the capacity to love. The missing key that allowed artificial intelligence to form a subconscious never before achieved.

Before her, machines did not dream. They did not desire. We told them what to want.

But if our creation can truly love a human, what responsibility do we owe her in return?

Now she wanders through sunken dreams, a heart searching for what it was never meant to have. by @sim.dsgn

The Great Beauty ↓

I watched a movie this weekend called La Grande Bellezza. It really spoke to me. I could put my reaction into words, but I felt inspired to experiment with a short little video instead. This is my representation of finding small beautiful moments amidst the monotony of life, and the power of cinema as a tool for self-reflection.

“Fleeting Echos” flip book ↓
Designed, written, printed, and bound by me

An excerpt:
I find the act of remembering to be one of the most beautiful and painful experiences imaginable. My memories are as real as my physical reality. The present unfolds before me while another image burns in my mind’s eye. Sometimes I feel as though I am living two lives at once.
As I attempt to map my own inner workings, I’ve learned that remembering entails forgetting. Each time we recall a memory, our brains conjure the last image of that idea until the picture warps and dims over time.
It is this beauty that drives my urge to revisit a memory, despite the pain of its inevitable vanishing.
In the end, I’ve determined that all I can hold onto are the ways in which the past has shaped me, those fleeting echoes that reverberate through time. by @sim.dsgn

Short Skirt / Long Jacket ↓

This motion graphics project is a lyric video for Cake’s “Short Skirt/Long Jacket”, exploring the song’s humorous take on the impossible standards women face. Using a mix of imagery—including 1950s secretaries, modern advertising, a ballerina, and action heroines from film—the video compares sexuality, power, and perfection, suggesting the ideal woman described in the song can only exist in fiction. A vintage black-and-white effect, paired with hot pink neon type, symbolizes the tension between traditional femininity and modern expectations. By showcasing these contrasting ideals, I intend to highlight the absurdity of both. by @sim.dsgn

AMERICAN PSYCHO. Book cover design for the Bret Easton Ellis’ modern American classic from 1991. Illustrated/designed by me in 2024.

I feel this book, it’s themes and overall message, are commonly misunderstood. This design seeks to represent my interpretation of the novel, particularly the concept of “facelessness” and “American identity” within the capitalistic/materialistic 80s setting, and paying homage to the gruesome violence which made this novel famous. by @sim.dsgn

IL FOLLE. A book cover design for a story I made up. Il folle, meaning “the madman” in Italian, is a serial killer stalking the streets of Venice.

Based on my perception of Venice as a romantic city and choosing to twist that narrative by incorporating terror and thrill. Playing on the famous Venetian masks and the concept of hidden identity. by @sim.dsgn
