‘Your Own Hands’ - I care little for technology itself or get excited about new features in cameras, which are often just gimmicks.. Unless those features or capabilities allow me to unlock things, let me realise ideas and allow me to create what I imagined. That is especially true when you’re on a tight budget. Night time exterior shoots have the innate challenge that you have to illuminate anything and everything you want to see. Whether that’s with lighting your being or by finding locations that come “build in” such as street lights etc. anyone who ever tried lighting up large spaces like a car park or road will know that it’s not an easy task. But even then exposure is often a struggle and you often end up shooting wide open. This is where the dual native ISO of the Sony Venice came in and made this whole approach possible within our budget limits. During the recce I realised that I would have to be at ISO 2500 at least to get enough out of the practical lights. During some testing after I discovered that the grain structure at ISO 5000 was really pleasing by to my eye and it afforded me shooting at T2.8 across the short. The sweet spot I wanted for this short to show enough of the environment and not get lost in shallow depth of field. - We shot on @7isatribe Tribe 7 Blackwing primes paired with the Sony’s Full Frame Sensor. It was my first time shooting on those lenses and they complemented our scenes so well. I’m incredibly thankful to @focuscanning for supplying the camera kit. - Director/Writer: @harvopayne Director of Photography: @simeongeyer 1st AD: @olifitz.jpg 1st AC: @charlieitravers 2nd AC: @rob_grooms_ Camera Operator: @nicolas_di_matteo Gaffer: @hishyjega Best Boy: @dennisgriscenko Spark: @sabishan.v Spark Trainee: @stella_films Sound Recordist: @joannech1svo Production Designer: @elclarkdesign PAs: @alexander.jpayne @ells.visuals @alicedriver06 Cast: @brandonlkimaryo @jsnavlonitis @kat.watkins @michael.gillette_ Lighting: @glofilmlighting

‘Dear Phoebe’ - ‘Dear Phoebe’ has made it in the recent @shinyawards Shiny Showcase and will be shown tomorrow alongside some more incredible work. - When you create work that is meaningful to you and the people you collaborate with it’s rarely the first objective to achieve commercial success. But it certainly is fresh wind in your sails if the work resonates with people. Especially when you are trying new paths for your career it is great to see the hard work of everyone involved gets some validation from industry professionals. - Writer & Director - Will Dolan // @willhdolan Producer - Oliver FitzGibbon // @olifitz.jpg Director of Photography - Simeon Geyer // @simeongeyer Camera Operator - Ollie Thurley // @olliethurley Focus Puller - Joe Gubb // @joegubb_focus_puller Clapper Loader - Freya Baker-Duffin // @freyabakerduffin Gaffer - James Gandy // @gandistakingpictures Spark - Patricio Pacheco // @patopachecodop Spark - Josh Southorn // @josh_southorn Production Desinger - Asher Hardy // @_asheredits Production Sound Mixer - Arthur Turner // @aturnersound Set Photographer - Phill Metcalfe // @phill.metcalfe Runner - Li Firess // _amelie.exe Runner - Esme Cornish Editor - Asher Hardy // @_asheredits Colour - The Mill // @millchannelcolour Colourist - Maruf Khan // @maroofio_ Colour Producer - Dan Hills // @producedbydan Sound Mixer - Phill Metcalfe // @phill.metcalfe Mum - Dawn Butler // @dawn.butler3 Phoebe - Mery Sutherland // @merytaos Boyfriend - Gianluca Bucci - #dop #londonfilmmaker #onset #filmmaking #cinematographer #directorofphotography #cinematographylife #shortfilm #storytelling #sonyvenice #mamiyasekorc by @simeongeyer

‘St. Chroma’ - Had a lot of fun playing with angles and composition on this one. After years of writing, filming, editing, and following this film around the festival circuit, Heart's Desire is now available to watch on Film Shortage's YouTube channel. 🎬 A huge thank you to everyone who worked on the film and supported it over the past few years. This project wouldn't have been possible without you. I'd be incredibly grateful if you could watch, like, and share the film. Every view and share helps independent filmmaking reach a wider audience. The link to watch is in my story. 🙏 by @simeongeyer

After three incredible years on the festival circuit, I'm excited to finally share that Heart's Desire will be available to watch on Film Shortage next Saturday 25th July at 1PM. 🎬 What started as a small idea became a project that took me on a journey I never expected. Over the last three years, the film has been officially selected at more than 25 festivals in the UK and US and has picked up three awards along the way. I'm so grateful to every festival, programmer, audience member and everyone who helped bring it to life. Having written the original script ten years ago it's strange and exciting to know that it's finally about to be available for everyone to watch. A huge thank you to all the cast and crew who worked on this film and @filmshortage for giving the film its online premiere. I can't wait to share it with you all. Link will be available next week when it goes live. KAANAL NEERE VISUALISER OUT NOW🌿 It’s been a while since I’ve dropped something that I’m genuinely excited about. Kaanal Neere was created w so much love and time - time truly needed to create music that’s authentically and unapologetically me. I’m soooo happy that you’re loving it as much as I have loved making it. Every detail in this visualiser is intentional, and everyone involved brought my vision to life WAY beyond anything I imagined and for that, I cannot thank you all enough!!! James Cook Events - I love working with people - and creating characters in front of the camera to tell a story. Sometimes that’s deep and emotional and sometimes that’s just lighthearted fun. Really felt these characters brought a lot of the vibe to this piece and I like seeing brands lean into it more and more rather than just showing products or services as such. - Creative Direction - @memento.co.uk Director - @c.k.morrison Camera & Lighting - @alexander_paul_kelly / myself Actors - Aron and Kimani - #dop #londonfilmmaker #onset #filmmaking #cinematographer #directorofphotography #cinematographylife #sonyfx3 #dzovespid #commercial by @simeongeyer

James Cook Events - Another piece that we managed to pull off with a skeleton crew. And again it shows that a solid idea, good prep and people who are great at their craft is going a long way. ‘St. Chroma’ - Some more of my favourite shots from a recent project. Working with @hishyjega on this project was such a joy. His dance background allowed us to break apart the choreography into chunks rather than having to keep it in one flow as it would be on stage. Our approach to utilise the locations architecture and find striking compositions for each segment and thinking about it from a shot by shot basis allowed us to create a visually strong piece. - Concept by: @kathun__ & @hishyjega Director: @hishyjega DOP: @simeongeyer Camera Assistant: @muralee.co Production Assistant: @sabishan.v BTS: @senthan VFX Artist: @abe.exr Dancers: @hashnasiva @lj_lacomplex @tartar.di.riki @ire.soconti @vinujey @carrick.wuuuuu @lukay_lyy @flo_aion @ki.mint8 @kathun__ Special thanks to the g rohithmuhundan A @dxrk.arts Picture - #dop #londonfilmmaker #onset #filmmaking #cinematographer #directorofphotography #cinematographylife #dance #dancevideo #musicvideo #sonya7s3 #cineprint35 by @simeongeyer

‘St. Chroma’ - Big crews and setups and finessing every detail of a shot is all fun and games but sometimes you just gotta have a strong vision, the next best available camera and most importantly a handful of insanely talented people, willing to throw their hard work at a project to create magic. - Concept by: @kathun__ & @hishyjega Director: @hishyjega DOP: @simeongeyer Camera Assistant: @muralee.co Production Assistant: @sabishan.v BTS: @senthan VFX Artist: @abe.exr Dancers: @hashnasiva @lj_lacomplex @tartar.di.riki @ire.soconti @vinujey @carrick.wuuuuu @lukay_lyy @flo_aion @ki.mint8 @kathun__ Special thanks to the g rohithmuhundan A @dxrk.arts Picture - #dop #londonfilmmaker #onset #filmmaking #cinematographer #directorofphotography #cinematographylife #dance #dancevideo #musicvideo #sonya7s3 #cineprint35 by @simeongeyer

‘Maggie&Ted’ - As we’re nearing picture lock on the edit for Maggie&Ted I thought it’s time to share some stills. These are straight out the camera, ungraded but pretty close to the final vision. Personally I’m a big proponent of doing as much work in camera as possible and on this short I had the pleasure of shooting on the lovely rehoused Leica R lenses supplied by @focuscanning along with the stellar camera package. - #dop #londonfilmmaker #onset #filmmaking #cinematographer #directorofphotography #cinematographylife #shortfilm #storytelling #sonyvenice #leicar by @simeongeyer
