A little life update: 6 months ago today I had surgery for my first major dance injury. While on the Chicago National Tour last April, right before a show I sustained an extremely painful injury we thought at the time was just a sprain. Fast forward to a month later, after many different appointments & differing doctor opinions across the US, I was still traveling on tour, I found out I tore my ACL & meniscus. This was extremely heartbreaking to hear & accept that my first national tour debut was ending two months early. But with the support of some truly wonderful cast members who kept me sane, pushed me in a wheelchair around airports, & made sure I was never lonely or left out, I finished the tour from the audience with a full heart.

Fast forward to now: After a successful surgery I’m now bionic with screws in my knee! There are still days that are very challenging mentally, physically & times I just want to give up & cry. But my German mother didn’t raise a quitter & I know my journey isn’t over. I have the best team of support, doctors, trainers & therapists who continue to push me, keep me motivated & not lose sight of the progress I’ve made. I still have a VERY long journey before I can dance again, but today I’m celebrating how far I’ve come, the wins I’ve made like being able to walk up & down stairs almost normally, & finding the peace in this healing process at home.

Thank you to all the wonderful people who have checked in on me, shuttled me around & lifted me up. Thank you to my incredible medical team at @midamortho for a very smooth surgery. Thank you to my PT Lane at @salina_ortho for always encouraging me when I’m down. Thank you to my trainers @theaclrehabguy & @aclphysiofin for making me feel like a true athlete who’s going to get back in the game. And most of all thanks to @luke.glea @trainer.luke.glea & @sp_salinagym @sharp_performance for being my coach, my cheerleader & the GOAT trainer there ever was.

6 months down & my progress is only beginning 💪🏽
