Tim is an award-winning environmentalist and ocean warrior at the forefront of combating global plastic pollution. A surfer, keynote speaker, Blue Mind practitioner and all-round inspirational human, I’m so blessed to have called him my best mate for over 35 years.

Much of our formative years were spent in and around the ocean, so when I decided to paint his portrait I felt compelled to create a piece where he and Mother Ocean seemingly melt into one another. His stern, protective gaze is also somewhat calm, softened by the buoyancy of her embrace.

I have a lot of great connections here with men from all walks of life - amazing fathers, partners, bosses, solo crusaders, sons and wizards! No matter how we met, or how this finds you (if we’ve not met yet), I’d love to hear from you if you’re interested in joining a safe place to show up for yourself every few weeks.

A simple yet potent men’s gathering via Zoom. Nothing too woo-woo for the blokey blokes, but soulful enough to help us all live our greatest lives and show up as the best men for ourselves and those around us.

I had the honour of sitting in with the facilitators at the Making of Men camp back in April run by @ropinstitute
It was so humbling to witness the amazing work that is already being done in this field.

Now, more than ever, it’s so vitally important to usher our youth into adulthood in a safe and supportive way. Guiding them through challenges, sharing stories, celebrating each other, laughing, crying, being held in multi-generational community.

I’ve found that a regular life drawing practice provides me opportunity to step outside of existing comfort zones, to lean into the unknown, embrace spontaneity, explore new uses of colour, speed, materials & creative approach.

A unique way to live more intently in the moment, while learning to detach and move on right away, onto the next.

A dance with the human form, & with my own inner world.

Feeling a sense of belonging within an eclectic community of creative explorers.

I’ve made messes, mistakes, moments of magic, and memorable new friendships.

It’s so much more than just the time spent at the easel, it’s an energy that is carries through other layers of my life every day…

…and it’s only just the beginning of this wonderful, vulnerable, playful new practice for me.
