LOOK | Zwai Bala Confirms The Bala Family Season 3 Is Not Happening!

Zwai Bala has broken his silence on the future of Mzansi Magic's hit reality series The Bala Family, confirming that Season 3 will not be returning in the near future.

In an official statement released on behalf of the family, the TKZee and Bala Brothers star said the family has spent close to two years trying to make another season happen.

“Africa, we have heard you. So we owe you an honest answer. For close to two years, we have been trying to make another season of The Bala Family happen. We wanted to do it. We were ready to open our lives, our homes, our relationships and our music to you again. But Season 3 is not happening in the near future," Bala said.

The music family — made up of Zwai, Loyiso, Phelo, sister Pinky and matriarch Veronica — first opened their lives to viewers in April 2022 on Mzansi Magic (DStv 161). The show quickly became known for its raw look at faith, family feuds, sexuality, and the brother's generational musical legacy.

Bala was emphatic that the decision to halt production did not come from the family.

“That decision was not ours," the statement reads. "We were ready. The audience was ready. The decision wasn't ours."

He added that the show has never been just television for them, but required an enormous emotional investment to put their name, history and disagreements on screen.

The announcement follows months of speculation from fans online about a third season, with viewers regularly flooding the family's social media asking for a return.

Bala ended the statement with an apology for the long wait and a thank you to fans:

“Thank you for loving this family. And thank you for waiting." by @simmy_freddie
