Hi! We are the fabulous duo behind Simple Mischief Studio.

We're what happens when you pair a social worker + a Muppet puppeteer.

Our slate of projects often includes development for film/TV, fabricating puppet characters (Bluey puppets, Broadway and beyond), and a handful of picture book manuscripts. ✨
(shout-out to our picture book agent @inthesestones)

Grace is a writer, illustrator, sculptor, painter, and self-proclaimed pun queen.
@misterlott is a puppeteer, fabricator, writer, director, and idea-machine.

Together we get up to a lot of mischief. We run a Drama Desk Award-nominated creative studio with a soft spot for puppets.

Reach out for commissions, collaborations or to ship us baked goods.

Dropping on 07.27.27! We are thrilled to announce that our very first picture book will be published next year!

Slowly and Shirley is about the friendship of two old turtles who send each other letters every day. 🐢 💌 🐢

We are the authors and illustrators! For each illustration we designed and fabricated lots of miniature puppets, props and scenery. Then we set up each scene in our studio and photographed it. We even tried our hand at a little stop-motion animation while we were at it!

It's available for presale now! (Link in bio) We’ll be sharing lots of behind-the-scenes goodies in the coming months.

Thanks to everyone at Balzer + Bray and Macmillan, and our agent Moe @inthesestones. We can't wait to share the cover with you soon!

Some illustrated characters translate into puppets better than others, and we were thrilled with how this cutie turned out!

This little space creature named Z has been featured in books and classroom resources for the Sanford Harmony Institute at ASU, and now he'll be coming to screens in a new educational media series.

Thanks to the wonderful @chrisiggie for trusting us to bring Z to life!

We loved designing the puppets for the @kcreptheatre and @stuartcarden for this new arrangement of The Wizard of Oz featuring our new friends at @pigpentheatreco . This cast and creative team is just phenomenal and our puppets are in great hands. Toto is expertly puppeteered by one of our favs @zacherythursday and the whole ensemble brings the crows, jitterbugs, fire spirits, and flying monkeys to life! We hope this show has a long and happy life beyond this run! Congrats to the whole team! #puppets #puppetdesigner #puppetry #kcrep #toto by @simplemischiefstudio
