Introducing A Space for H.E.R. created by me @simply_ashx3

A community for autism moms to connect, build friendships, and gather in person.

As an autism mom, I kept wanting more opportunities to connect with other moms who truly understood this journey. That desire for connection is what inspired A Space for H.E.R.

Through playdates, mom only gatherings, and shared experiences, my hope is to create more opportunities for autism moms to connect and build community together.

This past Sunday marked my 2nd OAR Run for Autism 5k—and somehow it meant even more than the first.

Last year, I ran for my son. This year, I got to run with him. Sharing that finish line together is something I’ll never forget 🤍

Autism acceptance is woven into our everyday life, and I’m endlessly grateful for the village that walks it with us. To my besties—thank you for loving us so deeply and showing up in all the ways that matter. We love you 💙💙💙 by @simply_ashx3

HAPPY WORLD AUTISM AWARENESS DAY💙

In September of 2024 , my sweet baby boy Azai was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder. I could go through the whole spiel of how I felt hearing this in that moment but I’m sure if you’re a parent you can only imagine. There’s no blueprint to parenting a child and there’s nothing that can ever prepare you to see a diagnosis next to your child’s name. However , regardless of his diagnosis or what the doctors say I know that God always has the final say.

Despite Azai being nonverbal at this present time, I have faith that he will one day speak. He’s such a blessing and is the smartest, loving, and most playful little boy you could ever meet. I would choose him as my son over and over again. One lesson I can say I’ve learned through Azai’s journey , is the art of letting go. Letting go allows yourself to be open to all the possibilities of life, both expected and unexpected. There’s so much beauty and freedom in accepting that whatever will be will be and believing that no matter what everything will be okay .

To any parent with a child newly diagnosed with autism, you’ve got this! I can’t sit here and say that things won’t be challenging or that you won’t have days where you feel alone, but I hope you know that even if you may not see it, things will get better. Your child’s diagnosis is not the end to their story it’s only the beginning. And to the parents who have children who are not on the spectrum or have any other diagnosis, please teach your kids to embrace their peers differences and that it’s okay to have friends who look or act differently from them.

To our village , you know who you all are. I am so grateful to each and every one of you. Azai’s village is deep and they don’t play about him . We love and appreciate you all ❤️ by @simply_ashx3
