Two years ago, I had to face my biggest fear. I had to say goodbye to my son.

Since then, life has felt incomplete. Everything I do is a constant reminder that I lost my child. Watching my now-oldest grow up and thinking, what if Donald were here? Wondering what he would look like, what his personality would be, who he would be. Running errands and noticing the empty seat. His seat. The what-ifs never stop.

I’ve held my grief in for so long. I tried to go back to what I love, to move forward like nothing changed, but the truth is, I am not the same person. Pretending otherwise, or avoiding the grief altogether, started to feel disingenuous.

This year, I promised myself I wouldn’t be afraid of grief, or the grieving process, or being labeled “that grieving mom.” Because the fact of the matter is: I am grieving.

I miss my son. A part of me died with him, and navigating motherhood, being a wife, trying to be creative, trying to function… it all feels nearly impossible with the gaping hole in my heart.

This is part of who I am now.

A mother who lost a child, but despite facing my biggest fear, here I am - learning how to live, create, love, and show up again 💛

#HomeDepotPartner | The leaves are starting to fall, the days are getting shorter… but I’m not quite ready to let go of the little bit of warm weather we have left, so instead of saying goodbye to our outdoor space with summer, I decided to finally give our neglected patio the reset it desperately needed and create a place our family can enjoy well into fall.

I found everything I needed at @homedepot to create an outdoor space that feels like an extension of the inside of our home. Ecolab cleaners + Scrub Daddy helped me tackle the serious cleanup, the Hampton Bay Crystal Ridge 9-Piece Modular Sectional gave us a cozy and flexible place to gather, and our Weber Spirit E-425C Gas Grill with Sear Zone means grilling season definitely doesn’t have to end with summer. 🙌🏽

Now we have a space to create a few more memories outside before winter eventually sends us in.

If your outdoor space has been neglected too, consider this your sign: fall doesn’t have to mean closing up the patio.

#Ford_Ambassador You really don’t want to get caught in the rain without this. 🌧️

Between hauling project supplies, materials, and pretty much anything else I can fit back there 😂, the bed of my Maverick gets USED. But I’ve definitely had a few moments of watching the clouds roll in and realizing everything back there is completely exposed.

Soooo... it was time for a truck bed cover. One little upgrade that makes hauling things around, rain or shine, a whole lot easier.

Let’s restore a $1,000 fountain I snagged for $90!

She’s definitely seen better days, but I wanted this fountain to be a focal point for a garden party I’m hosting, so it was time to give her a MUCH needed makeover.

First, I gave the entire thing a good cleaning, then got to work on the repairs.

What I used:
- CA glue to close up the cracks and gaps
- @3m Bondo to fill the holes. I figured if it works on cars, it should work here 😂
- @zinsser primer to give everything a fresh base
- @rustoleum Stone Finish spray paint to bring that stone texture back to life

The ONLY thing I wish I’d done differently was stipple on a darker color at the end to add a little more contrast and dimension.

There is almost nothing I love more than taking something that’s seen better days and giving it another life.

The biggest challenge with a small space is that it usually can’t fit everything you need.

This was our bedroom in our old apartment. We actually switched rooms with our kids so they could have the bigger bedroom (where I built the quad bunks), and somehow had to make this tiny room work for us.

We needed a queen bed, extra closet space, a dresser… and honestly, I wasn’t sure we’d be able to fit it all.

But small spaces are where I thrive.

I immediately went to the drawing board to figure out a layout, and somehow it turned out even better than I imagined.

My favorite part is when I decided to completely ignore the “rules.” Everyone says to keep a small room light and airy to make it feel bigger, but I knew that wasn’t us.

The room was going to be small either way, so I leaned into the moody vibe instead. Looking back, I’m so glad I did. It feels warm, cozy, and full of personality.

Now I’m looking at these photos wondering if I should bring this same energy into our current bedroom. 🤔🤔

This is Eruption Green, and pictures honestly don’t do it justice. Depending on the lighting, it changes just enough to keep things interesting, and it looks incredible from every angle. 💚😏

This was one of the biggest (and most rewarding) projects I’ve ever tackled while renting.

It was more than just building renter-friendly bunk beds.. I was creating a space my kids could come home to after long hospital stays. A place that felt warm, safe, and full of joy.

These walls held late-night giggles, whispered conversations, and countless memories with their big brother. They built a bond in this room that time can’t undo.

Years later, even with bedrooms of their own, my 3 littles still choose to curl up next to each other.

I wouldn’t trade that for the world. 🥹❤️ by @simplyhandmade
