It’s been 2 weeks and 2 days since I lost my sister, my best friend, my companion. Words will never be enough to capture the weight of this grief. It still feels unreal like you just went to work or traveled, and any moment you’ll walk back through the door.

I’ve been so angry at the country, the government, the company because deep down I know this tragedy could have been avoided. The thought makes the pain heavier.

I miss you deeply. I miss your voice, your laughter. Even writing this now, my eyes are swollen from tears. We had plans, so many plans. I always imagined the fashion and shakara I’d pull at your wedding. I used to say I’d come to your house just to eat your good food, because you were such a great cook. I looked forward to being “aunty” to your kids.

Now I don’t know who I’ll run to for advice, who I’ll gist with, who I’ll laugh with endlessly. The silence is unbearable.
