💙BACA Bay Area Monthly Luncheon 💙

As the BACA Bay Area Luncheon Chair, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Barbara Holguin, Founder, and Director of Research of Discovery Alcohol & Drug Education Program, for joining us and sharing more about the important work her organization provides within our community.

Barbara brings more than 10 years of experience within the probation and parole system, along with extensive experience working within the criminal court system. Through that experience, she recognized the need for a program that could bring education, treatment, and support together in one place.

Since 2016, Barbara has worked to build Discovery Alcohol & Drug Education Program into a trusted and accessible community resource. By combining state-approved programs with decades of experience in criminal justice and substance abuse services, Discovery provides clients with a structured and supportive approach from initial enrollment through completion.

We truly appreciated the opportunity to learn more about the services Discovery provides and the role education, treatment, accountability, and support can play in helping individuals move forward.

A special thank you to Barbara for taking the time to educate our members, share her experience, and introduce us to another valuable resource available within our community.

We would also like to extend a special thank you to PAM North for hosting our luncheon and providing such a welcoming space for our members and guests.

And of course, thank you to our wonderful lunch sponsors for helping make this luncheon possible. Your support is truly appreciated and plays such an important part in bringing our community together.

✨ What an incredible way to kick off my 40th year! ✨

I am beyond honored to be recognized as an Influential Woman.

As I prepare to celebrate my 40th birthday later this month, this recognition feels especially meaningful. Looking back on nearly 20 years in healthcare, I realize that every opportunity, every challenge, every mentor, and every patient has helped shape the person and leader I am today.

Healthcare has never been just a profession to me; it’s a calling rooted in compassion, advocacy, education, and helping people navigate some of life’s most meaningful moments with dignity and hope.

To every mentor who believed in me, every leader who challenged me to grow, every colleague who encouraged me, every patient and family who placed their trust in me, and every community partner who has supported my journey—thank you. Your encouragement, confidence, and friendship have shaped both my career and who I am today.

I’m also incredibly grateful for the opportunity to serve beyond my career through organizations like BACA and the Go Texan Rodeo Committee, where I’ve been blessed to give back to the community that has given so much to me.

This recognition inspires me to continue leading with compassion, serving with purpose, and striving to leave people better than I found them.

As I enter this next decade, I’m excited for what’s ahead: new opportunities, continued growth, stronger community partnerships, and an even greater commitment to serving others.

Thank you to everyone who has been part of this journey. The best is still ahead. ❤️

Somewhere between Toy Story and Toy Story 5, I grew up… and became Benjamin’s mom. 💙🚀

🧸 Toy Story (1995)
9 years old.
A little girl who believed anything was possible.

🚀 Toy Story 2 (1999)
13 years old.
Middle school, growing up, and figuring out who I wanted to be.

🎓 Toy Story 3 (2010)
23 years old.
Out of college and working full-time.
And yes…I absolutely bawled watching Andy leave for college because I had just finished that chapter myself. 😭

👩‍👦 March 2014
27 years old.
The greatest adventure of my life began when I became Benjamin’s mom.

🌟 Toy Story 4 (2019)
32 years old.
Navigating single motherhood, building a career, and learning that every new chapter brings new purpose.

🎂 Toy Story 5 (2026)
39 years old, turning 40.
Looking back at the little girl who met Woody and Buzz and realizing how quickly time flies. Now I’m the one telling Benjamin to pick up his toys and clean his room.

Somewhere along the way, I stopped being Andy…

💙🍇 BACA Bay Area Monthly Luncheon 🍇💙

As the BACA Bay Area Luncheon Chair, I would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to Connie Ricketts from CASA of Galveston County for joining us today and sharing such an impactful presentation. Your passion for advocating for children in foster care and educating our members about the important work CASA does in our community was truly inspiring.

Connie shared how CASA volunteers serve as a voice for children who have experienced abuse or neglect, helping ensure their best interests are represented as they navigate the foster care system. The need for dedicated volunteers is great, and the difference they make in a child’s life is immeasurable. Thank you for helping us better understand how we can support this mission and make a lasting impact in our community.

A special thank you as well to Grand Living at Tuscan Lakes for hosting us in such a beautiful and welcoming setting. We also had a wonderful time participating in our Peanut Butter & Jelly Drive benefiting HIS Ministries Food Pantry. Congratulations to the Peanut Butter Team for winning our friendly competition, and thank you to everyone who donated. Together, we were also able to present $500 to support local families in need. 🥜🍞❤️

I am grateful to everyone who attended, supported, and continues to make BACA Bay Area such a positive force in our community. Through service, advocacy, and compassion, we truly are making a difference.
