Solo travel isn’t always romantic sunset and perfect flatlays. Sometimes it’s dragging luggage across Barcelona because Uber felt “too expensive” at the time 🥵. Or eating pintxos solo in a San Sebastián bar 🐟 . Or plastic-wrapped on a motorbike in Mã Pí Lèng 🏍️

But it’s also freedom, character-building, new friends and stories that make us laugh later💛

Bangkok Travel Guide (1.5 days itinerary)

Bangkok is massive, bold, and the traffic is wild — but it’s one of my favourite big cities in Southeast Asia (with planning!)

I’m a solo female traveler, and here are 5 easy things to do in Bangkok that won’t break your budget or your sanity.

1️⃣ Wat Arun Viewpoint – head there around 5 PM for sunset. Grab a drink at Eagle Nest Bar and watch the temple light up.
2️⃣ Chinatown (Yaowarat) – just 15 min on the MRT from there! It’s buzzing, colourful, and delicious — don’t miss roasted chestnuts or crab fried rice.
3️⃣ Giant Buddha (Wat Paknam Bhasicharoen) – Bangkok’s tallest Buddha. Visit the 5th floor for the glass stupa and incredible views.
4️⃣ ICON SIAM Mall – take the public boat for 10 baht! A perfect mix of culture, street food, and air-con comfort.
5️⃣ Lumphini Park – Bangkok’s calm, green heart. Perfect sunset stroll before dinner.
6️⃣ Central Park Mall & Garden Rooftop – dinner, dessert, and skyline views at their rooftop garden or the elegant bar next door (see my next longer itinerary)

🍗 Chicken rice – Uncle Louis Famous Chicken Rice, Chinatown. They also do a good roast pork!
🥢 Soya chicken, BBQ pork & roast pork – Hawker Chan, Chinatown
🍖 Roast meats – 88 HK Roast
🍢 Satay – Lau Pa Sat
🫓 Prata – so many good options across Singapore!
🍞 Egg & toast – Pan’s Kopi (try the thick taro!)
🥟 Chilli oil dumplings – Zhong Guo La Mina, Chinatown
🍚 Nasi lemak – Spicy Wife, Amoy Street Food Centre
🥥 Nasi lemak – The Coconut Club, near Arab Street
🥟 Dumplings – Din Tai Fung, exceptionally good here

Singapore hits different on two wheels 🚲
I recently moved to Singapore, and rides has become my FAVOURITE way to explore beyond the usual tourist trail.
📍 THE ROUTE: East Coast → Marina Bay → Gardens by the Bay

🚲 1. Start at Marine Parade MRT on the East Coast.
🚲 2. Pick up a bike near the hawker centre and follow the underpass towards East Coast Park.
🚲 3. Head left towards the city and Marina Bay Sands, follow the cycling path along the waterfront.
🚲 4. Continue straight towards Marina Bay East for THIS gorgeous skyline views
🚲 5. Continue across Marina Barrage towards Gardens by the Bay to finish your ride surrounded by Singapore’s iconic sights.

There’s a bike drop right there!

⏱️ Allow around 38 minutes

🥟 6 dumpling spots in Singapore worth saving for your next trip! I recently moved here, I love dumplings and I made it my duty to test them all and these are the top 6 I’ve returned to, too many times.

🥢 1. Yuen Kee— Multiple outlets
That peanut chilli oil is PERFECTION. You’ll want extra!

🥢 2. Kallang Airport Wanton Noodle— Lau Pa Sat
I went TWO DAYS IN A ROW. Don’t miss the char siu and perfectly seasoned noodles!

🥢 3. Zhong Guo La Mian Xiao Long Bao — Chinatown Complex, Smith Street
A famous local favourite for xiao long bao. Worth adding to your Chinatown food crawl!

🥢 4. Din Tai Fung
The OG classic. Never tried xiao long bao (soupy dumplings) before? Start here!

🥢 5. Xi Ying Ke — Maxwell Food Centre
While you’re there, try the pan-fried dumplings with their gorgeous crispy “skirt” 🤤

🥢 6. Dumpling Darlings
A creative fusion take that still respects the art of a good dumpling. Perfect when you want something a little different!

📍 MY TIP: Pair your dumplings with Chinatown and Tanjong Pagar for gorgeous architecture, heritage shophouses, photo-worthy streets and plenty of good food along the way.

MONOPOLY: HIDDEN had me discovering spots in Joo Chiat, Singapore 🇸🇬

☕️ Kopikhoo Pte Ltd — a cute coffee spot tucked down an alleyway near the colourful Peranakan houses. 👀

🥧 Dona Manis — I finally tried the famous banana pie and the special offer!

🍺 Micro café — a little piece of Joo Chiat history… and was a popular matchmaking spot! 😱

Top 5 places not to miss in Singapore, from the girl who just moved here. Save or share it for SG travels
🌆 Marina Bay — the iconic Singapore skyline, waterfront promenade. Start at the Merlion, and strong along towards the Apple Store & Helix Bridge
🌿 Gardens by the Bay — short stroll from the Helix bridge. I prefer visiting off-peak when there’s no show on so you can properly take in the space.
🌈 Haji Lane & Bugis — colourful streets, Arab Street, Sultan Mosque, cafés and street art. Get off at Bugis MRT and explore from there.
🏮 Chinatown — temples, souvenirs, heritage streets and plenty of very good food! (More on this soon!)
🌸 Joo Chiat & Katong — colourful Peranakan houses, traditional eateries, modern cafés and cute independent shops.

I recently moved to Singapore and got to explore Joo Chiat differently today with @edencam for its very first car-free day

Such a brilliant initiative — bringing the community together, encourage sustainable commuting whilst giving local businesses extra love. @ltasg

And, of course, I was on the hunt for new spots 👀
A few standouts

🍺 Picotin Brewhaus — frozen mango daiquiri + proper Smokey ribs. @picotinkatong
👛 Joo Chiat Atelier — a gorgeous vintage & art store @joochiat.atelier

Rating the viral finds at 7-Eleven Singapore 🇸🇬 so we know what’s actually worth grabbing 👀

The clear winner for me? Magnum La Pistache 💚 — legit pistachio flavour and I was surprised to find it’s made in Italy!! 🇮🇹 I also found it at cold storage joo Chiat in mini packs

And yes… a few viral ones did not live up to the hype 😂
