I’ve had this fabric for a few years!! I’ve just never made the time to use it! And I also never get my nails painted so this is part of why I started this account. I just wanted to start doing some things for me! And luckily I have the sweetest little helpers! Plus my friend is always willing to do my nails! She can do anything and everything! @nailsbysofia_22

This fabric is called Spooky n’ Sweeter by Art Gallery. I also have Sweet n’ Spookier fabric mixed in too! They are both so cute! @artgalleryfabrics makes the softest fabric!! I can’t wait to get this easy square quilt made!!

Today is October 15, pregnancy and infant loss remembrance day… so I wanted share about our baby Kate who would be 12 years old but passed away when she was 2 months old. I made this quilt for her 12th birthday. 🩷

When you’ve spent all that time making a quilt… I think it’s worth taking the extra time for a hand stitched binding!!

However that is just my opinion, when I first started I tried to machine stitch my binding and it looked crooked and I hated it… so this way is more forgiving.

I also like the excuse to just sit and watch a show! 😉

In this video I try to show you how to sew the binding on a corner.

And if you keep watching you’ll also see how I struggled to connect and finish my binding.

And if you have the sound on and keep watching even longer you’ll hear my baby whine while I tell you that EVEN if you make mistakes sewing on a binding like this… it is pretty forgiving. It’s really not too hard to make a binding on the bias!! But I did have to watch YouTube videos to remember how to make it each time when I first started!! But now it just makes sense! Hope this helps a little!

A binding cut on the bias has extra stretch and works nicely on the edges of your quilt! It’s worth it!!

I love trimming and cleaning up my quilts! I’m anxious to get these finished because one is going to my friend who is currently in the hospital.❤️

I always start with the corners and then trim the sides until they meet up! Your rotary cutter should do this very easily, if not, get a new blade! I’ve used my Olfa cutter since I started quilting many years ago and I’ve maybe changed the blade twice. It’s works very well. I’m just saying this because if you’re frustrated it might be worth getting a new cutter!

On to the binding!

I was a little worried using Elmer’s glue for the back of my quilt but it actually seemed to work! I waited for it to dry, my machine quilted as normal and it actually held together very well and the minky didn’t bunch up at all! Which never happens!!!

I’m not telling you to use Elmer’s glue. But I have seen others use it, so when I ran out of my spray, I figured it was worth trying!

Someone mentioned I might ruin my sewing machine… which might be a valid concern. But I could probably use a new one anyway! For now I wasn’t worried! 😊
