I thought this was so special it needed a post of its own. Maddie, getting to watch you publicly declare your faith in Jesus means so much to me because I’ve had the privilege of watching Him work in your life firsthand. I’ve seen the little moments that led you here - the questions, the Bible studies, and the way you began slowly trusting Him with your heart. Knowing that part of your story makes this moment even sweeter.When we first met, I had no idea how the Lord would use our friendship. I didn’t know how much you would come to mean to me or that I would get to witness something this beautiful in your life. Somewhere between all the games and spending everyday together, I got to watch you come to know the One who loves you more than anyone ever could. I remember watching you walk through heartbreaks and wishing I knew exactly what to say to make it hurt less. I didn’t have all the right words, but I wanted you to know Jesus did. Our conversations slowly turned into Bible studies, and you started asking questions that I did my best to answer. Looking back, I’m so thankful that the Lord let me be part of those moments. I was/am still learning, but He was working in ways I couldn’t fully see yet. Over time, I watched the things you looked to for happiness begin to change. I watched you start bringing your questions and your hurt to Jesus. I watched your desire to know Him grow. Because we spend so much time together, I’ve gotten to see that change up close, in ordinary moments that might seem small to someone else but mean so much to me. The Lord shines through your life, Maddie, and it has been such a gift to witness. What makes me feel so moved is knowing that I love the same friend I met, and now I know her as my sister in Christ. Watching you become a new creation in Him has deepened my own gratitude for His grace. I could share what I knew and walk beside you, but He is the One who changed your heart. Your baptism is such a beautiful declaration that you belong to Jesus. I know it doesn’t mean everyday ahead will be easy, but you get to walk into those days knowing who you are and trusting the One who has already been so faithful to you. by @simpson_ashlyn
