How tenderly we learn to seem unbroken,
to keep the trembling hidden beneath the skin.
Yet one unguarded touch, one moment of affection,
and all our careful grandeur begins to thin,
revealing the small, wild hunger within.

We pour our fever into bronze and call it armor,
yet every face we wear is built to bleed.
The same red salt runs through the king and farmer,
and time, the keeper, banks the coals we feed,
then lets each pour go cold at its own speed.

The oak writes every winter in its timber
and leafs again. The seasons will repeat.
We, too, burn down by degrees toward ember,
and every grave turns green, then turns to wheat.
So touch me now, while the bronze still holds its heat.

Mausoleum of Avicenna (Ibn Sina), Hamadan - Who I’m named after. Abu Ali Sina (980–1037), Persian polymath, physician, philosopher. His Canon of Medicine remained the standard medical text in Europe and the Islamic world for over six centuries. The current tomb was completed in 1952, its conical tower anchoring his memory in the city where he died.

The lotus held between the king’s fingers. In Persian tradition the flower carried meanings of purity, rebirth, and eternal renewal. Its twelve petals marked the twelve months of the year, the turning of time held in a single bloom.
