Big news, Arkansas! 🎉
Arkansas Doulas was officially awarded our Rural Health Transformation grant funding today.

Today marks a massive milestone! Not just for Arkansas Doulas, but for maternal health across the entire state. 🩷

With this funding, we are launching the Arkansas Rural Doula Workforce Investment Model, a statewide initiative designed to create a pipeline of interns, fellows, and clinical supervisors serving medically underserved communities.
Through certification support, mentorship, and regional partnerships, we are bringing vital care directly to maternity care deserts.

None of this could be possible without the relentless drive, vision, and heart of our founder and CEO, Sondra Rodocker.
Sondra has forged a path where new doulas are supported, respected, and set up for success right out of the gate.

As a team, we are endlessly grateful for Sondra’s heart, her commitment to fighting for systemic change, and her dedication to completely shifting what is possible for Arkansas families and the people who care for them.

It’s been a week, and I’m still trying to wrap my head around all of this. 🥹

Thanks for believing in us, Justin. 😂

His contributions to securing this $850,000 investment in @arkansasdoulas cannot be overstated:

• Provided the killer playlist while we dreamed up this brainchild.

• Offered unwavering emotional support from the corner of my office.

• Has never once questioned one of my ideas.

• Showed up promptly for the giant-check photo.

And given his Memphis roots, we’ve decided he can be the unofficial mascot as we prepare doulas to support families who have to cross Tennessee’s state line just to access maternity care. Facts are still facts.

He has not been informed of this appointment. Nor did he contribute anything beyond vibes. 😂

In all seriousness, $850,000 to invest in doulas. To pay them while they learn. To build a stronger workforce. To reach communities where families sometimes have to cross county and even state lines just to give birth.

The people doing this work are the reason this is possible. The doulas, mentors, supervisors, community partners, and every person who has believed that this workforce deserves investment.

This little brainchild is about to grow up. 🥹And apparently Justin is coming with us.

I’m ridiculous. I make no apologies. 😂 I am who I am, and thank goodness I have a team that not only puts up with my crazy ideas and questionable antics but somehow manages to match my crazy vibes. At this point, they know what they signed up for. And if nothing else, they can ALL agree that the playlist is FIRE! 🔥

And um, @justintimberlake , sorry…not sorry. 😂 For the record, this is entirely @meagan_in_the_clouds ’ fault. This grant is going to allow us to touch lives, break down barriers, and expand our reach in ways we’ve been dreaming about!! But more than anything, it is a moment to pause and say: Thank you to @sincerely.sondra . Thank you for building the table, for holding the vision& for letting us walk this path beside you.🩷

Watching my baby giant shine in his senior year. We’re so incredibly proud of him.

But it’s moments like this when I miss my mom the most.

She should be here to see all of our hard work pay off. It took a lot to get him here, and without her, I’m not sure we would have made it this far. I would give anything to have her here, cheering him on when he’s out on that field.

Sometimes it’s hard to find joy in the midst of grief. Grief is weird like that.

It comes in waves. Sometimes you see the wave coming, and sometimes it rolls in out of nowhere. You just have to let it hit. Let yourself feel it. And eventually, it passes. Then somehow you’re laughing and cracking jokes again like you weren’t just crying five minutes ago.

It’s weird.

But I’m learning that joy and grief can exist in the same moment. I can be unbelievably proud watching him shine and still ache because she isn’t here to see it.

And missing her while I watch him is okay with me.

Because I would rather carry the pain of losing her for the rest of my life than have lived a life where I never knew what it felt like to be loved by her at all.

So I’ll let the wave hit.

And then I’ll keep cheering for our baby giant enough for both of us. #grief #joy #parenthood by @sincerely.sondra

We finally got away to celebrate our 20th anniversary. Just the two of us and the magic inside @universalorlando ✨
