Y’all I have been avoiding this post like the plague. Rent has always been a favorite musical of mine. It’s raw. It’s got real experience, real stories, real pain. It truly is the epitome of true theatre to me. I literally said the phrase “I’m in Rent” out loud in my car and just sobbed for a while when I found out.

Though I didn’t get the role I was hoping for, I got Gordon. I got the Squeegieman. I got the Christmas Bells guy. Who? The character that holds your attention that you never truly know. He’s the first one to express distaste for Christmas because he’s homeless and unable to celebrate like he wants to. He’s the first one to be blatantly optimistic holding to the phrase “Honest Living.” He’s the first one to express the complexities of having AIDS saying “I’m used to relying on intellect, but I try to open up to what I don’t know.” He’s the first one to lose someone close to him in the show. He’s the first one to admit he’s scared.

And then, in our version, he’s the first one to die. I dealt with complicated feelings about that fact. I wasn’t in La Vie Boheme, I wasn’t in Seasons of Love, and I wasn’t in the I’ll Cover You (reprise). His absence stung. And, with Isaiah’s artistic vision, that was the point. As time went on, I sat with those feelings and let them fuel the character simultaneously accepting the power he held in a show about pain and grief.

I cherished that position with every passing day and came to respect Gordon’s persistence, his efforts to find joy, and his strength in his pain. In an already powerful show, Gordon became the most raw for me. I had forgotten how my solos in “Support Group” and “Will I?” had, years ago, been some of the first melodies in Rent to ring loudest in my ear.

To my cast and crew, your talents brought so much life to this story that I’m having trouble believing it’s over. I’m so proud to have been a part of this cast full of genuinely the most loving and kind people to share a stage with. You’re all beautiful people. Thank you to @iambizkut and @okcparks for trusting me with your spin on the story. Here’s to 30 years of Rent and 525,600 more seasons of love with you all.

Hey folks! Wishing you all the best holidays!! (Repost cause I got the dates wrong)

I’m trying to shift my current Instagram into a professional actor space for myself. It’s gonna be a blend of the YouTube and the real life actor stuff! One way I want to do that is share my upcoming shows!

I have the absolute honor and pleasure of working with @unboundartscollectiveokc as their Charlie (🏳️‍⚧️!) in the upcoming production of “In Pieces”!!

5 years of Steve 🌈🎉 Amy stole his glasses for a YouTube video and then gave them back like this. Steve ended up pleased. He let Amy have the pie afterwards though.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS FOLKS!

Whether you’re a friend, a fan, some random dude, a hater, or someone sharing my blood somehow, I hope you all are doing well! This year has been craaaaaazy cause I’ve been really focused on graduating college and adjusting to living on my own so I’ve been very quiet on social media and my content. After a few months, I finally feel like I’m getting a better grip on my health, my plan for the future and most importantly, my joy 💖

Part of that joy however, is my art and I’m very much missing it terribly. So, this next year, I want to lean back into video making and writing. May not be consistent, but if you’re reading this and want to join me for the ride, it’ll be a ride that’s for sure.

Excited to see what this new year brings! I hope you all have had an incredible year and remember, it’s okay if your 2024 was just a path of survival. I know mine was!
