I do legit professional things sometimes 🎩 This creative care summit brings you different creative care theories and practices developed by art therapists and practitioners from all over the world - including yours truly.In 2019, I received the Student Award in Preventive Health Research from @concordiauniversity. This grant supported my research in developping a therapeutic intervention aimed at improving resilience, through humour and play, among individuals facing high stress and burnout - allowing me to bridge my academic research with practical, impactful strategies that empower individuals to navigate and deal with adversity. Last Wednesday, I got to present my work in #comedy and #mentalhealth as a guest speaker at the General Assembly of the Ministry of #innovation , #science and #economic development #canada (ISED) - in #ottawa 🇨🇦 .In the past few years, I have designed a therapy intervention aiming to build #resilience by improving our sense of humour through 5 humour habits: developing a playful attitude, feeling and expressing, looking for humour in everyday life, learning to laugh at oneself and finally, finding humour in the midst of stress.During the pandemic, I got to apply my intervention with 4 groups of front line workers facing high stress and #burnout at 2 different CLSC in Montreal. The feedback was overwhelmingly positive. ب ١٩ يونيو، رح قدم Not for Laughs بالقاهرة. هاي النسخة رح تكون تفاعلية و رح تجمع بين الكوميديا, الimprov و اللعب.أنا رح قدم الليلة. ورح اهتم ب موود القعدة و فيكن. و رح يكون معي النساء الفاضلات, اخواتي, الكوميديينز برناديت و نوران الوالي. I am so excited to be facilitating this workshop at the Modern Language Association conference next week in Toronto with Danielle Bobker. ~~ • As trolling humour moves from the margins of the internet into public life and classrooms, laughter has become harder to agree on and easier to argue about. This workshop looks at how jokes are being received now, why reactions have shifted, and what that means for teaching and public discourse.• ~~Laughing allowed? is inspired by the 2021 Supreme Court of Canada case, Mike Ward v. Commission des droits de la personne de Quebec, and funded by a 2024 SSHRC Insight Development grant. This case ignited a national conversation about free expression and the limits of comedy.Drawing on academic freedom, free speech, and trauma-informed approaches, the workshop makes room for careful, sometimes uncomfortable conversations about humour, power, and responsibility—without declaring the joke dead.@mikewardca by @sindee_elb
